Maine "Currie Family" Tacos:
Hamburger. The cheapest we can get.
Taco seasoning. The cheapest we can get.
Tomatoes (for Denise, chopped.. mushed.. however, we aren't eating them so we dont care)
Lettuce, sliced delicately thin for a shredded look
Canned refried beans (cheapest we can find)
Salsa (Becca doesnt care what heat level this is because she is not eating it, so will typically get the singe your nose hairs kind)
Shredded mozzarella cheese
Hard shells (for the man with no teeth - go figure)
Burrito "shells" for everyone else.
Skip everything else.
I've come to the conclusion that NO ONE in my household knows how to make a taco/burrito correctly, so I have started making them, and baking them.
I do a hamburger / bean mix up with taco seasoning and shredded cheese in a burrito shell. I bake these, as I said. Typically called a Chimichanga by the kids... And then I make a salad with, well the lettuce... leaving off the tomatoes so Denise is the only one who gets that. LOL. And I serve the baked burritos with a dollop of sour cream on the top... and salsa for anyone who wants it... I leave it off mine. Ugh! Spices + me = sick for days. :)
Everyone likes this better. No messes for them to be embarrassed about. If it falls apart - its Mom's fault. LOL!!!
