Pasta in itself is a super side dish. While mostly used as an ingredient in a main dish, there are many other things we can do with pasta: Here are some ideas:
Serve plain but while still hot add an additional amount of olive oil to it and a spoonful of butter.
Buy one of those multi-colored blends cook drain super well and then add an Italian dressing to them and let marinate in the refrigerator.
Start getting wild and add additional things to them. My favorites: mushrooms and olives.
Add cream of “just about anything” to hot pasta or an Alfredo sauce.
You got the idea – use your imagination.
Bread is really a side dish itself: Some bread accompanies meals better then others. You be the judge.
It is not needed with every meal.
It can be eaten plain or more often with butter or some topping.
To get some amazing taste going, make some garlic butter or a pesto type thing and spread that on the top then stick under a broiler until toasted.
I like these new fangled bread making machines. It keeps me to a smaller loaf I am going to finish.
