Hold your YEPs..lol. Here's the recipe for Snickerdoodles that my grandchildren say are the "bestest ever". Some people try to take a shortcut in making Snickerdoodles by adding the cinnamon directly to the dough instead of rolling each cookie in a cinnamon/sugar mixture. Don't try this; they aren't nearly as good when prepared that way..lol. Rolling them takes a bit longer, but they are much better!!!
3 3/4 c flour
1/2 t baking soda
1/2 t cream of tartar
1 c butter or margarine (softened)
2 c sugar
1/4 c milk
1 t vanilla extract
3 T sugar (I use a bit more)
1 t cinnamon (I use a bit more)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a cookie sheet (or use non-stick variety). Stir together flour, soda, cream of tartar and a pinch of salt; set aside. Beat butter for 30 seconds; add the 2 cups of sugar and beat tull fluffy. Add eggs, milk and vanilla; beat well. Gradually add flour mixture beating until well combined. (You may need your dough hooks when you have added all flour mixture) Form dough into 1-inch balls; roll in sugar/cinnamon mixture. Place balls 1.5-2" apart on cookie sheet; flatten slightly. Bake on center rack in oven for 8 minutes or till light golden. Do not overbake!! Makes about 50 cookies.
