I agree with the stats (nobody has the right to disagree with the numbers :-) ) for the drop in the tourney count. But lets go back in November or December last year (I don't remember the exact month).
We had our first Marathon day with tourneys every 15 minutes (at least since I am in Eliters as a TD). It was quite successful and some of the regular players, proposed to have more tourneys also during the regular days in the peak hours(14.00-18.00 for Euro players), i.e. 2 - premium tourneys per hour with high points (There was a try for this if I remember correctly two or three months ago, but I can say we missed the moment). Because of different reasons this did not work. Then for some known and unknown reasons we started losing players.
Now the occasional increases may be because in these weeks we had our marathon with tourneys every 15 minutes (I have not checked exactly the dates of our marathon days in the past months).
The use of the cube - hmmmm, these players should learn. In fact, there is something about the cube, that really makes me smile, when I see such situation. Let's assume 3 point match. After the first game the result is 2-0, so according to the Crawford rule, cube is not allowed. After the second game the result is 2-1 and the cube is live again. The third game starts and what you expect - cube from the player losing 1-2 in the first possible occasion. Yes, but NO! When I see such situation, with all my respect to all players, I can say: "This backgammon player has NO clue of the game, he is just relying on his luck!"
About the comment of Ivan for the high point tourneys - You my friend are RIGHT! We, as a team, will do our best to bring the high point tourneys back on the schedule.
Just my thoughts.
