OMG.. It has been sooooooo long since I wrote anything in a club I almost foget how.
I don't play in Bg that much but in this thread I see two very different topics (one involving another game)
In BG there is an option to offer to resign a game at any point in time, regardless of the games potential outcome. The opponent also has the option to reject that offer. If a player is getting his A** whipped, would it not be strategically sound to offer to resign at single point? It would also be sound for the opponent to reject such offer.
I do not know the game well enough to know if this offer could be made repeatedly, but I think that is where the line should be drawn, not at a first offer attempt.
As for the non-kibitz rule (gin was mentioned but applies to all such games), this is a different scenario. In these types of games the secrecy of the hand is of utmost importance and kibitz compromizes that, as useful information could be relayed to opponents.
While courtesy is always desirable, I do not believe that TDs have the right or authority to take actions against a player for not being "courteous". "Courtesy" falls into the "subjectivity" category which opens the lid to a can of worms that no one could (or should) possibly try to administer.
wow... that was fun... I might have to get into this again.... :-) abt
