Re: Tram in euchrp timbowindsor       11/14/2010 17:21

that sucks. Tram can, under certain circumstances, tip off what your opponents have in their hand (or tip off what you have left in your hand to your opponent). It could mean a team getting two points instead of one by taking all the tricks by playing the cards in an unorthodox way that they would never do in real cards. By using tram, you take out an important element to the game.

For example, lets say it is my opponents deal to my right and I ordered up a diamond holding the ace and two bowers with the king and nine of spades off suit. It is my lead and take the first three tricks with trump, and see that everyone is trumped out. If at this point, the game does not tram, it will tell me that the ace of spades is still being held and not buried, therefore I know that the king of spades I am holding cannot be the high card. Instead of taking a chance in this situation and playing the king hoping the ace is buried and taking any spades left out of play making my 9 good, I would lead the 9 hoping it is my partner who is holding onto the off suit ace with something strong for the last lead.

I can think of two other examples, but it gave me a headache trying to figure out how to explain this one.
