Question. I have not played for a long time and i just decided to come back and play a rr in gin. So im registered sitting there and the tourney started. Then my first round opponent didn't show up. So 1 minute into the tourney, i requested a timer. The tourney started at :45 and i requested a timer at :46 from tourney start. So at :55, my opponent still had not shown up yet, so on tourney page i asked if 10 mins were up yet. then 30 secs later he showed up. the td let him play. i asked the td after the game was over, which i lost, why my opponent had not timed out. He said, and i quote "We give the player who is on timer 10 minutes and 59 seconds to return." So i went to the rules, which i was SUPPOSED to read before entering the tourney and it says, " In Double Elimination (DE), Round Robin (RR), and Super Robin (SR) tourneys a 15-minute accumulated clock is used. No more than 10 minutes is allowed for a single Match/Round of the tourney, and an additional 5 minutes is allowed for the Lower Bracket of the DE or a subsequent Match of the RR, or next Round in an SR, with the clock to be started when the opponent becomes available to play." Hmm.
So could somebody explain to me why i was timed out? Or try to convince me that 10 mins and 30 seconds is not more than 10 minutes? Because it is not write to somebody who has not played here in a long while, to try to enforce a rule that completely goes against what the rules are stated. Thanks, Matt.
