Re: Tourney Play - Intentionally Lost stingray8381     8/19/2003 23:15

Kathy,
I hope this will answer your question as well as clear up any confusion and misconceptions. I went all back through my general rules and other tourney rules. I did not see any specific rules on "intentional loss". Then I thought, it can be real hard to distinguish an "intentional loss". I know as a player myself I have seen play that I thought was such, and got upset. (to myself) As a TD I have seen all sorts of play. Both good and not so good. With one of our (eliters) main rules and calling cards being "each player may play his or her cards as they see fit with no harassment from other players", it comes to mind that it would be pretty hard to pinpoint "intentional loss" when the player can play as they see fit. As far as the game that ocurred earlier, said player had 48 points to be exact. And the queen and most of the hearts had been taken and they had been given at least 2 pts.(putting them over 50) before the clubs and 4 of hearts were played. the amount of remaining points was not enough to make a difference in the outcome of the game. I can only hope that the player in question knew that and saw no reason to drag game out and hopefully just wanted to get to the next one. Either way, it would come unde playing their cards their way. I do apologize for any misunderstandings and I know that tensions run high in the "heat of battle". Believe me, they do in me as well. LOL. I hope that this has answered your question as well as cleared up any other issues.

Thanks,
Stingray
