The 5 minute rule is the best thing that a group of people could come up with. We have been working toward a better solution for about two months now. This seems to be the only possible solution to keep the play moving along.
HoldemP is only one of two leagues that I know of that when a player goes on timer, the remaining players still have to continue to play, leaving sometimes a fair or unfair advantage. Some times it works out in the best interest of the remaining players...but most times it does not.
The issue isn't necessarily about playing a bot, it is more so about the player that was booted as they are taking a chance on coming back to an already empty table as the match will most likely be over (at least for them) by the 10 minute timer used elsewhere.
In a perfect world, we would not need timers at all...and we would not have frozen hands, stalls, lag, etc. But we are all just people trying to have some fun, and at some point, there has to be some kind of work around for that to happen. This was the best that we could come up with at the time.
Suggestions are always welcomed. If you have one, please email me so it can be reviewed for best/worst case scenarios.
