As shown in the March Newsletter, the Olympics event is undergoing changes in all playsites. Here is a taste of what is coming:
New times for all events
Rotating schedule of the order of games each month
New games added to Pogo and GameDesire
New Time for All Events
In April, we will standardize the start times across all playsites. The new schedule will have the first event at all playsites start at 10:00 on each day, with the remaining events starting every 2 hours. The generic schedule will be as follows. (Schedule shown is for an 11-game event.)
Saturday: 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:00, 20:00.
Sunday: 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:00
The time changes will allow players in every time zone a better chance to compete in events. There are early games for some and late late games for some. We'll have to make some compromises in order to satisfy the largest number of members.
The order of the events will remain the same in April, as in previous events. Refer to the Olympics tab on the Events Page for more information.
Rotating Schedule of Games
Another change we will make is to rotate the order of the games each month. We recognize that players have their favorite events, and the time of the games isn't always compatible with everyone's schedule. The fairest way to handle this is to rotate the games each event.
We will begin this rotation in May 2006 and will provide more details in the April newsletter, to be published by the end of this week.
New Games Added
Pogo and GameDesire leagues will add more games to the Olympic lineup in the coming months. You've already seen the first change if you played in the March Olympics in GameDesire, with the addition of Euchre.
This month we will turn to Pogo and add tourneys for Hearts (Heartp) and Pool 9 Ball (Pool9p).
Check out some of the tourneys currently offered in these leagues to become familiar with the playsites.
All Olympics events will now have the same prizes for medalists. Points will be accumulated for all Games and the top 3 Players (Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalists) will be awarded additional Bonus Prizes as follows:
Gold Medalist - 1000 YEPs
Silver Medalist - 750 YEPs
Bronze Medalist - 500 YEPs
