How to play 9ball

In 9 ball pool, the 9 colored balls are ordered from smallest (1) to largest (9).
The game begins with a break shot. This is when one player uses the cue ball to break the rectangular formation of balls, making sure that they hit the (1) ball first.

Players must pocket each ball in a sequence from smallest to largest.
In each shot, the player must always hit the smallest value ball first with the cue ball.

During the game the player must attempt to avoid a number of fouls. For more information on fouls, please read the main rules page.

The objective of the game is to be the first player to legally pocket the 9 ball. To read more about the pool9 rules, Click here

Pool9d Rules have been updated. 9ball on break now counts as a win, even in single games.

Different games are offered in 9ball:

9Ball Last
Played on unrated tables. The 9 ball must be the last ball on the table before it can be potted. If you sink the 9 ball before it is the last ball, including the break, you lose and your opponent will advance. The only exception to this rule is if you scratch and the 9 ball comes back on table, then the players shall continue the game. Please call the TD to the table if verification is needed. Winner needs to be declared at the table by the computer.

69 Ball
Played on unrated tables. The 9 ball must be potted in the same pocket the 6 ball goes in. Both players are responsible to verify pocket when the 6 is potted, even on the break. If the 9 ball goes before the 6, or in the wrong pocket after the 6 is made, the player shooting loses and must report loss. Making the 9 ball on the break is a loss and must be reported unless the 6 ball is potted on the same shot AND goes into the same pocket prior to the 9 ball.

Early Ball
Played on rated tables. The 9 ball cannot be the last ball on the table. If the 9 ball is the last ball on the table, you must cancel the game and restart, after you called the TD to verify. 9 ball on break counts as a win. (NOTE: canceling game does not affect any player's GameDesire pool rating)
There is a 3-game limit. If a winner is not determined after 2 games, the last game will be played as "regular".
