Spades Question runaway0509       1/21/2009 03:10

This question is not intended to start a thread of negative emails! I really like the partner that I had for the game and we finished as winners, My question is this:

I had a total nil hand but 1 card,,,risky for sure but I decide to go nil
The opp to the left of me has the lead and leads a 9, My opp plays the 10 the next opp plays a 7, leaving me to set my nil with the only card of the suit which was a queen. Of course my p was a gentlemen but points out how ridiculous my nil was (I agree,,,risky) until I found out my partner was holding the king and ace of the suit I got set in. If i was covering a nil my first play would have been the Ace to try and cover anything high my p was holding.
I am wondering what everyone else would have done.

Again ~ I adore my p and I think he is one of the best spades player out there AND I am also wondering if I was wrong ,,, I still feel the nil was a risk but to not break out the ace or king was the wrong way to cover your partners nil.

What do you think?

Diana aka Runaway
