This procedure is the same for all tourneys. It's not fair to anyone in either tourney, if you join one, then join the next, and expect a timer in either. However, if, for example:

You join tourney A
You join tourney B
You get a bye in tourney A
You play your match in tourney B before your match for tourney A even happens, which means you are able to join Tourney A's match without having to reequest a timer, then you are just fine.

If by chance your tourney rules are compatible to allow you to join more than 1 tourney (yahoo/GameDesire tourneys and Pogo BowlP tourneys), then as long as you maintain proper playing speeds and don't delay any matches, then you are free to join more than one.

Just keep in mind that the TD has the ability to DQ if they feel you are not keeping pace with all tourneys you are in, regardless of what playsite you are on.

Bottom line is, just keep pace, and most times nobody will even know you are in more than one. Don't keep pace and people will notice :)

Hope this helps ;)
