Here's a newspaper article in today's local newspaper that I need to share with everyone. Thanks to reporter Kyle Wind for this.
ACCIDENT CLAIMS 1 LIFE, 3 INJURED
An accident on US Route 209 last night claimed one life and injured another three people. The accident occurred near the police barracks on US Route 209. George Ortega, 45, of Saugerties, was driving southbound on Route 209 in a Toyota Camry. He lost control of his car and swerved into the northbound lane and struck a Subaru Forester driven by Susan Nelson, 55, of Lomontville. The impact caused Ortega's car to flip over. He suffered minor injuries and his passenger, Lorena Ortega, also suffered minor injuries and were transported to Benedicitine Hospital. The Forester, driven by Susan Nelson, was wrecked. Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene by the county medical examiner and an autopsy is scheduled for Friday. Daniel Nelson, a passenger in Nelson's car, suffered injuries that are not life-threatening and was transported to Benedictine Hospital for treatment. Police are investigating the cause of the accident, and whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.
If you don't know already, my last name is Nelson. Yes, you guessed it, Susan and Daniel are my parents. I got a call around 10:22PM last night from Benedictine telling me I had to bring my brother and myself there. I was lead into my dad's room, where he was wired up, but able to talk. He told me what happened and that my mom was no longer with us. I'm writing this from the waiting room right now, but will be with my dad until he's released. I'm at a complete loss of words of what to say about this, except that I'm a complete wreck. I'm only 19, and losing my mom at this time is not the thing I wanted.. Prayers and everything else at this time would be greatly appreciated.
