The rules state (topic #2634) that players should make "every attempt" to offer at least one time within their opponent's posted availability.

Yes, the rule used to say all offers had to be within availability, but that was destroyed by players who would change their availability mid-period and we couldn't possibly know what it was when the offer was made. Therefore, the "rule" was dropped over a year ago since it was not enforecable.

If someone offers you a time that you are not available, all you have to do is post on EM that you are not available at that time, and they will have to offer another time in order to be able to claim a win.
