In this next section, we will go into detail on some of the topics. The length of this discussion will necessitate breaking into three parts.
EDS is a divisional system that provides players the opportunity to meet opponents in a more relaxed atmosphere, to schedule matches based on individual needs, to play longer matches that are not always suited for regular tourneys, and in some leagues to provide games when tourneys are not always available.
For more information on the divisional play, refer to the My Divisions link on the left side of your league page. If you still have questions, you can talk to any TD in the league or the Division Period Administrator (DPA) in charge of divisions in your league.
Finding players and scheduling matches
This is clearly one of the most frustrating parts of the division system for some players. Different time zones and different schedules make it hard to find opponents at times. Some players are used to the "structure" of tourneys because all players are in the same room at the same time. However, in divisional play it is up to each player to find and schedule matches with opponents.
Don't forget that we have many tools to help you schedule matches: Post a message on Eliters Messenger on the Divison page with schedule information; Update information in your "Availability" profile to let your opponents know when you are generally online; Email your opponents to schedule matches; Add the players to your "buddy list" on Yahoo, AOL, ICQ, Pogo, MSN, etc and post your communication preference in Eliters Messenger so players can find you; Join Gathering tourneys if available in your league (if not, ask your DPA to create); hang out in the main tourney room to catch players as they are in and out of tourneys.
It is not always possible for all players to complete all matches. When you have a problem meeting a regular schedule, post a message in Eliters Messenger on the division page to let others in your division know when and how to find you. However, if you find an opponent who is CLEARLY abusing the system and avoiding matches, send all communication attempts and relevant screen captures to the DPA. We cannot do anything about this if we do not know where the problems are and have proof of the attempts to arrange play.
