Well for all the old eliters that know me and know my daughter joined the Army National Guard, I can proudly say that she has finished all her training and is finally home as of 15 Dec; for now.
She had already scheduled her classes at the University she is attending. And was going look for an apartment yesterday, when she stopped by her unit to drop off her records. That is when she got the news that no 18 year old or parent of 18 year old wants to here...
You are going to Iraq with the Unit. We leave Jan 8.
When she enlisted she chose the school option that prevented her from being deployed as long as she was in school and ROTC. However, they failed to mention that she has to be attending school before they got orders to deploy. Since she was in training, that wasnt possible.
She can fight it, but if she doesnt go this time, she will have to go next time. And since this is their third tour of Iraq, chances are next one will be Afghanistan. Of the two choices, Iraq is better one.
Plus she will be in the green zone and have no need to leave it because of her job. So no danger unless Baghdad is bombed.
SO please pray for her to keep her and her unit safe.
