First, there is no additional 5 minutes after a player is timed out to find a sub.
There is however some common sense to be applied. Example: If a player is on timer, the TD, any players that see someone on messenger, posts in the lobbys, etc.. in an attempt to find a sub. If the sub is found before the TD has timed out a player, the SUB is invited.
"IF" a player is on timer, the TD or players or anyone else cannot find a sub in the 5 minutes, and the TD announces the Player has timed out---The team is then disqualified the tourney moves on.
The KEY is once the TD has posted the member times out and there is no sub available, the matter is closed.
There is some common sense to be applied here. There are and will be times that there is a player registering right at the time the other player is timing out and the TD allows a few seconds to get the player seated. But these are on few occasions.
We want everyone to come in our lobbies, enjoy each others company, play a game. At the same time we need to keep tourneys on schedule and limit delays.
This is a general answer to the comment concerning TDs being on the same page in reference to the use of timers. Any individual questions or instances should be sent in to the HA of the league or to corporate for clarification.
