I got a sad phone call today from my boss, announcing that he was going to be my former boss officially. After 10 years of running multiplex movie theaters, I attempted to run the little one screen theatre in my hometown of Hinton, WV a few years back and struggled financially until I had no choice but to close it down. At the end of last year, I was approached by the new owner, Ken Allman of Practicelink.com, and asked for my assistance in reopening and renovating the same historical theatre which was built in 1929. It was like a second chance of a long held dream of mine and I jumped at the offer.
Many of you are familiar with my working there over the past months doing the renovations and have encouraged me in the journey. Unfortunately, they have decided that since I admittedly made a huge mistake and quit a seperate labor position upon the announcement of being laid off from it, which I accepted while being laid off as General Manager, I will not be able to return as GM.
I announce this with great sadness, as the theatre has always held a very special place in my heart. My daughter learned how to walk in the lobby on the sloped floor when I ran it on my own. I do not think that Ken has hard feelings towards me or that he wished me any harm. The decision was made by a group of people that headed up the renovations and he accepted their decision as I must also.
If they never call me back, I hope that I can move on and remain cheerful for the eliters and other td's. If anyone would be willing to send notes of encouragement I would appreciate it as it will probably cheer me up a bit. Likewise if anyone would like to contact Ken the owner on my behalf in support of my character, no hateful or threatening mail please, it may pay off for my later reconsideration.
If you would like to vouge for my character and send kind notes to the owner on my behalf, please go to the theatre website and submit through the feedback form there. The site address is www.ritzwv.com, or go to the parent company website practicelink.com. I don't know if it will help me in the future obtaining reemployment with his company, but I can only hope.
Thank you all for being great friends and hopefully I will be more cheerful soon.
