The same thing happened to bonuses on the high stakes tourneys that happened to the players playing for the fun of the game rather than just the bonus.
It's a fact that tourneys with more players get larger payouts, bonus or not. As well - the bonuses do not come from "Eliters" or from a "Bonus pool" they come from the individual TD that is hosting.
Another subject that has came up this week - Bonuses seem to draw out only "bonus seekers" which in turn tick off a lot of regular players that end up being teamed up with them or against them because they haven't a clue of how to play the game and have no desire to learn, they are only there to try and get a piece of a bonus.
I don't instruct TD's in Spady to put bonuses on any tourney and will not ever unless it's a bonus that I request and pay for myself to the TD. The players that love the game will play, win or lose, bonus or not, proven. Yes, bonuses make it nicer at times, but having larger amounts of players participate makes it even better.
Just in case you were wondering as well - here is a link to the page that shows you how prizes are paid out for each tourney format. Remember again, 2x2 the amounts are doubled in hindsight as your partner gets the same amounts you see on the tourney page as yourself.
