Welcome to Eliters Backgammon Pogo league (BGP).  Backgammon Pogo tourneys are played in matches of 2 or 4 players.
 
TABLE SETTINGS
 
Customize Your Backgammon Game

  • Match play – see “Tourney Special Rules”
  • Score that ends the match - see “Tourney Special Rules”
  • Use forfeit timer – Unchecked
  • Crawford Rule - see “Tourney Special Rules”
  • Holland Rule – Unchecked
  • Show pip count – Checked
  • Allow advanced stats – Checked

Note: These options only available if match play is not selected

  • Automatic Doubles – Unchecked
  • Raccoons – Unchecked
  • Beavers – Unchecked
  • Jacoby Rule - see “Tourney Special Rules”

Customize Your Table

  • Allow players to replace computer players after the game starts – Unchecked
  • Limit players joining this game by certain skill ratings – Unchecked
  • Allow players to watch game – Checked
  • Mute all watchers – Unchecked
  • Make game rated (Needs 2 players to start) – see “Tourney Special Rules”
  • Make table private – Checked using password eliters (always in lower case)
  • Use these options the next time I open a new game – Personal Preference

All Tables must be made at the bottom of the Tables List; to keep tables grouped together. This makes it easier on the TDs when checking the tables to see if set right for Tourneys, and monitor the Matches on one screen. 

TOURNEY FORMATS

Backgammon Pogo League will run tourneys in the following formats; the main format being SE 1x1:

  • SE (Single Elimination - 1x1, 2x2): See Help Topic 2211.
  • DE (Double Elimination  - 1x1, 2x2): See Help Topic 2221.
  • RR (Round Robin  - 1x1): See Help Topic 2231.
  • SR (Super Robin - 1x1): See Help Topic 2232.

 

TOURNEY SPECIAL RULES

Unless otherwise stated, Backgammon Pogo uses Rated Tables.

  • Regular: Doubling allowed for match points greater than 1 (Crawford Rule)
    See “Crawford Rule” under Terms and Abbreviations
     
  • Regular: Doubling allowed for match points greater than 1 (Crawford Rule); 1:00 Minute Timer
    See “Crawford Rule” under Terms and Abbreviations
     
  • Regular: No Doubling
    No doubling (Use of the Cube) allowed in any game/match/round.
     
  • No Hit, No Bear Off: First to hit or bear off loses and must resign for single stakes (Jacoby Rule) - Unrated Tables
     
  • No Hit: First to hit loses and must resign for single stakes (Jacoby Rule) - Unrated Tables
    If neither player hit, game is played as regular backgammon.
     
  • Full House: Block all 6 spots in Home & Win (Jacoby Rule); otherwise regular BG. Must complete turn for Full House to count - Unrated tables
    It is not required to finish turn once home is blocked. 
    If player blocks home, their opponent must immediately resign match for single stakes.
     
  • Snake in Grass: Opponent has 3 or more adjacent spots covered by single checkers; Hit 'snake' and lose (Jacoby Rule); otherwise regular BG - Unrated Tables
    Any player to hit the “snake” must immediately resign match for single stakes.
     
  • Team Tourney: No Doubling allowed - Unrated Tables
    Player A of team 1 plays Player A of team 2 using 1x1 No Doubling format. 
    Player B of team 1 plays Player B of team 2 using 1x1 No Doubling format.
    Each team needs 2 wins to advance.  If Player A wins for team 1, and Player B wins for team 2, a tie breaker is played with the winner from each team.  Winner of the tiebreaker game advances their team.
