Canasta (Pogo) Last Update: 6/8/2012

fiogf49gjkf0d

This is an Exclusive Club Pogo Game (Available only to Club Pogo and AOL Members).

Pogo Canasta has a variety of table settings, so The Table Options are as follows.

  • Use Forfeit Timer Unchecked
  • Draw Cards should be set according to the tourney special rules, to either 1 or 2. The number chosen will be the number of cards drawn each time a player chooses to draw from the pile.
  • Minimum Canastas should be set according to the tourney special rules, to either 1 or 2. This number determines the minimum number of canastas necessary for a player to go out.
  • Wild Cards allowed in opening meld Checked / Unchecked according to the tourney special rules
  • Show Tips Unchecked
  • Allow Players to replace computer players after the game is started UnChecked
  • Limit players joining this game to certain skill ratings UnChecked
  • Allow players to watch game Checked
  • Mute all watchers UnChecked
  • Allow watcher's to see a player's hand UnChecked
  • Make game rated ( Needs 2 players to start) Checked / Unchecked according to the tourney special rules which are Basically should be Rated in Eliters full 5000 points tourney play. In the case of Reverse Canasta and scores set below 5000, tables should be Unrated, and the table host should call TD to table to verify. Rated Tables are also permitted in such cases, but Games should be Cancelled after confirmation of Win by the TD.
  • Make table private Checked; with the password being eliters (all in lower case).
  • Use these Options the next time I open a new game. Highly Recommended.
The table match points settings for individual tournaments will vary, depending on the desired length of the tourney and its entry fee. As a rule, higher fees tourneys will have higher Matches points. Typical tourneys range from 3000 to 5000 points rounds. It is permitted to have Blitzes (1 hand Matches). Some tournaments are “progressive”; the rounds points increase as the tourney advances. It is common also to have tourneys in which the finals are played to a higher point total than the other rounds.

All Tables must be made at the bottom of the Tables List; to keep tables grouped together. This makes it easier on the TDs when checking the tables to see if set right for Tourneys, and monitor the Matches on one screen.

In the event of a tie then a tie breaker hand will be played according to the same Game Specific Rules; Players will continue at the same table, and the tiebreaker hand will be played with the TD in attendance.

If a Player commits an error by not following the Tourney Special Rules (such as picking-up the Pile in a No Pick-Up Pile tourney, or freezing the pile in a No Freezing Tourney) s/he is automatically disqualified.

Pogo! Canasta supports both individual and team play. Eliters Canasta holds tournaments in both formats. If you are playing a team tourney, and do not already have a partner lined up, please be at the tourney room at least 15 minutes early to arrange a partner.

Canasta Team Tourneys use both "Standard Team Tourney" and "Tag Team Tourney" formats, For details please refer to Partners Tournaments (2x2)
