Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I was born in Santa Monica, Calif before moving to Venice, Calif. At the age of two I was hit by a car while playing with my sister in the driveway (we lived in a house in front of an apartment building with a common driveway). My dad was sitting on the porch reading the newspaper when it happened. He picked me up and the lady that hit me drove us to hospital. It was my head that was run over and they managed to put my head back together by installing a plate in the back of my head. We soon moved to Culver City. After I graduated from Venice High School in '78, I became partners with my dad in a Machine Shop. Unfortunately, with all the cuts in military spending, we were out of business in about 5 yrs. After bouncing around for a few years - I became an electrician - and am still plugging along at it.
What other interests or hobbies do you have (other than Eliters of course)?
My outside interests are sports-going to Hockey games (GO KINGS)! Yeah, I know they're losers lol but I'm a true fan and thatís the only team of importance. Since I no longer drink, thatís about it besides watching all sports on T.V
How did you learn about Eliters and when did you join?
I first heard about Eliters from a friend of mine with whom I worked - Ron aka n0_im_n0t_single. I'm not sure exactly when I joined lol.
How did you pick your Eliters' Name - does it have any special significance?
I've had several id's. The one I keep coming back to is desiresno1. The significance of this id is on Dec.29th 2003 I lost the only woman in my life that I have loved wholeheartedly. From the day we met until the day she passed away we were always together. desiresno1 is just what it says - I have no desire to feel the pain I felt that day and therefore wish to remain single till the good Lord comes aí knocking.
Tell us something unique or interesting about yourself that we are unlikely to know
I probably have had more id's in Eliters than most lol.
What makes Eliters special?
The thing that makes Eliters special for me is the closeness/caring most players have in here. When someone needs prayers or help in one way or another - people are all over it.
What games do you play? Are there any other games you would like to try?
I play pool/gin/crib. I would like to learn all the games that are in the Olympics - would love to have my name up there
What is your absolute favorite game - and who taught you to play?
My favorite YEP winning game to play is gin. It is the only game in Eliters that I can win YEPs at lollllllllll. My favorite game to play is pool, but I suck at it (can I say suck in here?) Helen aka bravesbabe taught me how to play gin I believe and the great people of PoolY (my first home) taught me how to shoot pool
Do you currently hold any position in Eliters? Is there any other particular position you might be interested in?
I am currently GL in PoolP and having the time of my life. Sure-I'd like to go higher on the food chain. I once told nono aka Fran that it was my dream to go to a struggling league and help bring it to the top. She asked me why I would leave the #1 league in Eliters (at the time) to go to a struggling league. GinY will always be part of me - I love the players and td's over there but thereís really nothing like looking at league stats @ 1 am Eliters time Sunday to see who you beat that week and what place our league finished in I must admit, I get a little bigger smile when we finish ahead of GinY! Me and a couple of their td's watch each other and whoever wins that week gets a congrats from the other. Fran if you read this. - I miss you and love you sooooooooooooooooooo much
What is your proudest achievement in life?
My proudest achievement in life hands down would be the day dad and I became partners in our machine shop.
What is the most important thing for you in tournament play?
The most important thing for me in tourney play is to have fun. I try not to get too involved in the competitiveness and stay a little loose. Don't get me wrong, I hate losing and have blown a gasket or two - but now I try and keep it in check at the tables. Life is too short to stress on games.
If you could offer one suggestion to improve Eliters, what would it be?
I'm not a brown noser by any means but I think Issa and the gang do a great job. Iím drawing a blank lol.
If you had one wish what would it be?
This is easy - make me a millionaire. Whoever the brainiac was that said money can't buy happiness was full of it... Put an unhappy millionaire next to an unhappy dude making $40,000 a year with kids/house n car payment and you'll see the one with millions isn't that unhappy!
What is the most memorable experience that you have had as a TD or a player, online or at a live event?
My first MS as a td... 58 players I think. It got rid of any fears I might have had knowing that I'll never be close to that amount again... It was flipping wild. I kept telling everyone that I wanted 100 in it and everyone said - no you donít They were right.
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you since joining Eliters?
This is easiest question yet. - the day I met Byron Killbilly. We clicked from day one and laughed for years together. God I miss him! If it werenít for his son Lennie - I don't know if I'd still be here. Sorry - I went from laughter to tears in one sentence.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you as a player or TD?
Losing my cool in lobby while hosting - not cool at all!
If you could be one person for a day, who would you be and why?
Most I could think of are dead now...I'll give you one - Hugh Hefner - what a life!
You are given five minutes to evacuate your house, the kids and pets are safe - which three items would you grab?
My mom, the cat and a lifetimeís worth of photos.
Name your three favorite movies.
Tombstone, The Godfather #1 and Planes,Trains and Automobiles.
Do you have any particular heroes?
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Sweets - not good when you are diabetic.
