Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Not too much to tell, I lead a dull life~lol. I'm a host in PoolP and have been off and on over the years. I guess it might be a tad interesting to note that I met my husband over 7 years ago, in PoolP.
What other interests or hobbies do you have (other than Eliters of course)?
My hobby was ALWAYS been music, either playing, writing or listening.
How did you learn about Eliters and when did you join?
I learned about Eliters when I was in Pogo Gang Green playing crib. They convinced me to join Eliters, and I also followed a bunch of them to PoolP, which was a fairly new league then. I joined Eliters in Nov,2002. When I ran out of YEPs, I became a TD Dec, 2002 (my YEPs didn't last long, huh?)
How did you pick your Eliters' Name - does it have any special significance?
My screen name has VERY special significance. Before I tell you why I picked that name, remember the story "The Velveteen Rabbit" - the toy rabbit that always wanted to be real? In 2001, I found myself suddenly single and thrust into the dating scene. I also got my first PC about a year later. I met a lotta strange people during that time in both real life & on-line... It seemed everyone I was meeting was into playing people. After getting irritated, to say the least, I chose this name & and the motto "Keep it real or keep it quiet".
Tell us something unique or interesting about yourself that we are unlikely to know
In my past, I won several music awards & also used to play keyboards in a couple bands. Also, I was a counselor for years for dual-diagnosed people.
What makes Eliters special?
With Eliters, I've always felt safe and have made some incredible friendships here. My Eliters family gave me back the ability to trust again & I will always be greatful. It's an awesome family. I really missed you all when I was away all that time.
What games do you play? Are there any other games you would like to try?
Nowadays, I rarely escape the pool hall.
What is your absolute favorite game - and who taught you to play?
I HAVE to say pool since my dad taught me to play when I was a kid. Crib is a close second (except an ex taught me that). Good game, bad teacher~lol.
Do you currently hold any position in Eliters? Is there any other particular position you might be interested in?
I have a few positions in PoolP ~~GL, TGL, AA, SFTD & DPA . At this time I'm quite content, but if y'all wanna ever lay more cool initials on me...
What is your proudest achievement in life?
My proudest achievement would have to be my 21 year old daughter Janell. Strange but true fact concerning her and Eliters by the way - when I used to run my 'Midnight Express' years ago, she used to sit on my lap and co-host. Not that she cared what I was doing, but so she could talk on AIM :-)
What is the most important thing for you in tournament play?
In both tourney play and hosting, be reliable, consistent and remember to always make it fun!
If you had one wish what would it be?
To live each moment as if it's my last and to keep finding rainbows when all seems cloudy.
If you could use one sentence to describe the way you feel about Eliters, to a prospective new player, what would it be?
We're the coolest, most fun league on the net (I have even told people in a bar that). You can get the girl away from the league, but you can't get the league away from the girl!
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you as a player or TD?
I have WAY more embarrassing stories, but I'll settle for this one (because it also is WAY in the past and I can't get in trouble for it). I started hosting solo with NO supervision from my third tourney on. I was fairly clueless besides the basics then. My late night players and I pretty much all learned how to host/play at the same time. Id have to keep checking various rulings as different dillemmas occurred & luckily, I had a very patient and supportive group of regular players as well as an awesome group of TDs that hosted the same time in various leagues and we all helped each other out as needed.
You are given five minutes to evacuate your house, the kids and pets are safe - which three items would you grab?
My laptop, my wallet, and some shoes & clothes. I say the last part because when my house really was on fire, I wasn't wearing much when I jumped out of bed to help drag my brother to safety. I got some rather interesting looks in the waiting room (my brother was ok!) being barefoot and dressed like I had been sunbathing in the middle of the night (not to meantion I was REALLY cold)!
When I grow up I want to be just like:
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Cigarettes and an occasional glass of wine!
Any last words for our readers?
Just a few last words, since I already said a LOT, except to tell everyone to keep it real, try and find some good when things seem bleak, and don't sweat the small stuff!
