Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Semi-retired salesman, I have an older brother, 60, 2 grown sons, first generation college grads, 24 and 28, and am involved in several charitable/volunteer organizations. I believe in giving back anything I have learned and helping anyone I can.

What other interests or hobbies do you have (other than Eliters of course)?

I run a live backgammon league, I am working on my pilo4s license, I bought a new scooter for the summer (YAY), have a kitty that is very demanding and love to sell things at flea markets. I also love repairing computers and photography.

How did you learn about Eliters and when did you join?

I found what was then "elite" a cases league, in April of 2000 while surfing the net, 4 months after it was founded, and I was 14th to join. ELITERS has always been my favorite league for playing in and the friendliness makes it work. Even when I left for a while, I missed it...and it was GREAT to come back and nice to be volunteering to make it the best gaming site on the net. Issa has done a wonderful job with the interface, and it is so much nicer than cases.

How did you pick your Eliters' Name - does it have any special significance?

When I was in my 20's I played chess and switched to BG, traveling around the Midwest playing ABT tournaments and really it's the only game I play anymore. So it was appropriate that I choose an ID that was a BG term. Thus tosscube is a term used live, as in "doubling" or "tossing the doubling cube". There have been many variants of my Id players have created over the years, such as "tossedcute" and others (the most sincere form of flattery).

Tell us something unique or interesting about yourself that we are unlikely to know

Something unique...hmmm..... well I am 6'2" 220#, am a former GQ model, and won "Sexiest man of the year" in 1990. Did I mention I am a compulsive liar?

What makes Eliters special?

ELITERS is a direct competitor of cases, and NOT a ladder, which makes it unique in that it is strictly ratings. The mix of games it offers and the events are fun. And the people are what make it work. Most leagues fail because of "arrogant leadership" and we do not have that here. It's interesting that having left for a while and then returning it felt like coming home!

What games do you play? Are there any other games you would like to try?

Only BG, but in my life, all the card games, and still like a blackjack table occasionally.

What is your absolute favorite game - and who taught you to play?

Again BG, and after getting beat for a month, I bought "Backgammon" by Paul Magriel and I seldom lost playing live again!

Do you currently hold any position in Eliters? Is there any other particular position you might be interested in?

Yes, HA of BGY, and years ago I was AA for a couple years. No "lofty goals" only to make BGY the BEST BG league on the net! And I really appreciate all the help from both Corp and league staff members, PSTD's and SFTD's.

What is your proudest achievement in life?

My 2 sons, and how they are the most beautiful young men I could ask for. It will always be my proudest achievment, raising them and seeing them graduate from college.

What is the most important thing for you in tournament play?

In tournament play in ELITERS, it's to have fun and treat my opponent with the same respect I would want. Even when they are "rude" I do my best to "kill them with kindness". I try to always remember that I am playing for FUN, and when you are a TD, it makes the playing even MORE fun! (Etiquette is so important).

If you could offer one suggestion to improve Eliters, what would it be?

There's always room for improvement in any organization, but I worry more about what I can do to improve myself, to make ELITERS better.

If you had one wish what would it be?

One wish....to live on a deserted tropical island with wiggles.

If you could use one sentence to describe the way you feel about Eliters, to a prospective new player, what would it be?

FUN VARIETY GREAT PEOPLE AND VALUE FOR THE DOLLAR.

What is the most memorable experience that you have had as a TD or a player, online or at a live event?

On line it would be at the beginning of ELITERS playing bloopansy's tourneys and laughing everyday with her. Live would be the one year I broke into the top 100 US BG players in the US. (And ducking my head when opponents threw their dice cups across the room).

What is the funniest thing that has happened to you as a player or TD?

Funniest thing... Ohh that would be typing "I love you” in gumshoe_steves IM window when I meant to type it in a gals IM window.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you as a player or TD?

Most embarrassing -Typing "I love you" in gumshoe_steves IM window.

If you could be one person for a day, who would you be and why?

I would be... a pro golfer (Need I explain WHY?)

You are given five minutes to evacuate your house, the kids and pets are safe - which three items would you grab?

My laptop, BG board and camera.

How do you pass the time on your drive to and from work?

Talking on the cell, texting, smoking, looking for a radio station, trying to find what I dropped on the floor, and Ohh...once in a while see where I am going.

Name your three favorite movies:

Scent of a Woman, Pulp Fiction and Erin Brokovich.

Do you have any particular heroes?

People who care for those in need are my heroes, and soldiers.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?

Hughes Chocolates

When I grow up I want to be just like:

Gumshoe_steve
