How long have you been playing games online?
How much time do you spend online a week?
TOO much!! 50 hours or more.
How did you learn about Eliters and when did you join?
I use to play in the Yahoo! Backgammon ladders where I met Jvanp75 who recruited me. I actually joined as a player when Eliters was still a MyLeague, (with another ID) but I was skeptical about leagues and drifted away. I rejoined and C_K became my official ID 4/22/01.
What was it that finally brought you back to Eliters?
When I first signed up, I was not all that sure I wanted to play in a league. I had tried Cases but did not care much for it and I use to play in yahoo ladders but that got old too. A friend kept telling me I should come back to Elite and I finally did, lol.
When did you first become a Staff Member at Eliters?
I became a TD on 8/2001.
Tell us about your career history at Eliters.
Iíve been a player, TD, AA, and HA in Bgy and have hosted over 3400 Bgy Tourneys. I was a TD/GL in Hearty in 2002 (only a short time). I was a member of the old SFTD team in 2002, and am a member of the current SFTD team. I was appointed Leagues Performance Director in July, 2003.
Can you briefly give us some insight into your duties as Leagues Performance Director?
Basically, I follow league activity, analyze reasons for low performance, and advise Admin on improvements. I try to stay current with changes occurring in the leagues and answer a lot of questions on how to handle specific problems, weak areas, and improve performance.
What is it in your background that prepared you for all this?
I worked in the auto industry for 15 years, mostly as a Service Advisor in a BMW dealership. It was necessary to relate to all types of people, to be very organized, to pay attention to details and to handle stressful situations.
And what do you do, for Elite that makes use of all these skills?
Everything I do requires the use of these skills and more, lol.
What leagues have you administered or been a TD in Elite?
I was a TD in bgy and hearty. As an SFTD, Iíve hosted in several other leagues. Bgy was my only administrative position other than Leagues Performance Director for Eliters as a whole.
Do you administer any real life competitions?
Not anymore. I played league darts (real time, lol, steel point) for 20+ years, hosted hundreds of live tourneys, was involved in the administration of 2 major tourneys in Houston every year (tourneys ran from Friday thru Sunday and could have as many as 500 players from all over the world in a single event) and was VP on the board of directors for the Houston Darts Association for 3+ years. A shoulder injury caused my withdrawal from darts about 5 yrs ago.
Have you earned any notable achievements while playing darts?
At one time I was in top 20 of all the ladies in the US, and I was Houston City Singles Champion in 1994. Iíve also won numerous events at some major Texas Tourneys. It is actually a popular sport - the ADO (American Darts Organization) is nationwide and they sponsor the top players in the US to go to the international competition held in Great Britain every year.
What do you do in your time away from Elite?
Is there time away from Elite??? I must have missed that memo! Most of my time is spent taking care of my 4 month old grandson while his mother works and I love to read.
What makes Eliters different from the competition?
Iíve watched as Eliters has grown from one league, bgy, to this current extraordinary organization, in 4 short years. We have exceptional management, a great site, incomparable TDs and fun players.
What would you tell a prospective member who is trying to choose between Eliters and other, similar leagues?
There are no similar leagues, Eliters is one-of-a-kind. No matter what game you join, you are instantly welcomed and become part of this large, friendly (albeit, competitive!!) community.
Well, that certainly sums it up, any last words for our readers?
During my association with Eliters, Iíve been privileged to work with and play with a wonderful group of people, some of whom Iím sure will remain my friends forever. I look forward to meeting and working with many, many more of you! I donít know who coined the phrase, but itís certainly true Ė Elite (& Eliters) Rockkkkkkkks!!
