Tell us a little bit about yourself - your hobbies; interests; passions in life.
Navy brat. I joined the US Army during peacetime where I was trained as an Exec Secretary and this is where i met my husband Bob and we have now been married over 30 years. Together we became members of the local civilian lifestyle where we made the choice to become breeders of nationally registered pygmy goats. We LOVE being grandparents to our 8 grand kids, aged 2-15.
What other interests or hobbies do you have (other than Eliters of course)?
I enjoy reading, art and tending our many pets which include 19 pygmy goats, 2 dogs, 2 birds and a 1 cat. I love my boxer 'Marshall' who is 4 years old now, my African Grey Parrot 'Lexi' is 10 and my Lutino cockatiel 'HoneyBird' is 12. I love doing computer graphics and have sold several pygmy goat animations. A couple years ago I worked on some art work for a book which is not yet published. The care of my dad in our home for 5 years will always be dear to my heart. I miss him every day as he was one of my very best friends. Bob and I enjoy travelling along the Oregon coast every year during the month of March as we celebrate our wedding anniversary.
How did you learn about Eliters and when did you join?
We both learned about Eliters from a gal we met online named VegasSinCity. She became a TD and recruited us. Under the tutelage of both DarkWolf, Wick, and Drashy (to name a few) we have become loyal supporters of the league. Each day still brings a new adventure! I LOVE being a tourney director because it affords me the chance to meet new people from all around the world who visit Beginner Lobby 2.
How did you pick your Eliters' Name - does it have any special significance?
As a child my dad used to call me a nucklhead from time to time, so when I searched for a name one day I eventually remembered this and decided to make it into a pinochle reference by adding the 'O' in place of the 'U'.
Tell us something unique or interesting about yourself that we are unlikely to know?
Barely interesting, back in 1994 I purchased a baby tarantulla to help me somehow deal with my spider phobia. Not very effective though! One day a couple years ago I was sure a huge spider fell on me from a tree and was hitching a ride on my shoulder as I entered our car. It was not a pretty scene. Diabetics take note - 2 years ago I had Reux-N-Y GBS to stop or slow down complications of diabetes. I was able to shed 65 lbs, ten inches off my waist and went from a size 14 to a size 4! I had a CVRO( Central Retinal Vein Occlusion) which left me permanently blind in my left eye. Breaking my ankle back in 2006 and the surgery I had to repair it actually saved my life because I learned at that time that I have diabetes. Both of my parents died unexpectedly of various complications of diabetes which neither of them knew about early enough in thier lives to make any changes. I am extremely thankful I was able to make changes in time so I can change that outcome. I love being married to my husband and want as much time as possible with him.
What makes Eliters special?
THE PEOPLE! Eliters is thought by 99% to be a place of caring where FUN people come to have a relaxing time playing a game they love best. Eliter's people make the league so very special. Friendships and acquaintences made will forever be a part of the reason we volunteer our time. When an old familiar name pops into the lobby I get SO EXCITED I have to shout out, "HI THERE SO-AND-SO!!" Most folks think I am such a dork, but I really don't mind. I AM a dork now thanks to my husband! joking sweety.
What games do you play? Are there any other games you would like to give a try?
I know a little bit about cribbage thanks to my mom and dad. Rummy is also familiar, as is Spades but my heart belongs to Pinochle.
What is your absolute favorite game - and who taught you to play?
Pinochle without a doubt! My husband Bob began teaching me the game when we were first married. I did not really "understand" the game until I became an Eliter and learned to play it backwards! lol
Do you currently hold any position in Eliters? Is there any particular position in which you might be interested?
Assistant Admin(AA) and Training Group Leader(TGL). I find that i am Nuck_Master's personal secretary, but i don't mind at all. He challenges me almost daily to do new things to expand my abilities and make me better.
What is your proudest achievement in life?
Raising all of my children and watching them become parents themselves. Giving life to my daughter, caring for my father after his massive stroke and being married to my dear husband. Bob is definitely at the top of my list of accomplishments. Seeing all of our grandchildren grow from babies into little people is wonderful as well.
What is the most important thing for you in tournament play?
Defintely the fun and comradery a fair game offers. Each game has its own merits though, even being yahooed affords an opportunity to be humble in defeat.
If you could offer one suggestion to improve Eliters; what would it be?
2x2 leagues should get double the credit when the numbers are figured out for Top 50 as the 1x1 leagues will always get more games played. The average time for a round / match of pinochle is approximately 20 minutes to play just 5 or 6 hands.
If you had one wish; what would it be?
That humans would learn to live in peace; that no one would have to have constant pain in thier bodies; and last but not least, every child would always have food and love in thier lives. Also, all pets would find good, loving homes.
If you could use one sentence to describe the way you feel about Eliters to a prospective new player; what would it be?

What is the most memorable experience that you have had as a TD or a player; online or at a live event?
Meeting a lady named TESS online, then learning that she was having excrutiating back pain, yet she was able to be so up beat and positive. She suddenly passed away and I will never forget her even though I never had the chance to meet her in person. PurpleHaze was going to attend the first Oregon Live Event but also passed away before we could meet in person. Eliter's PEOPLE become a part of our lives. RobbiesFan was another player who has passed recently, gone but never forgotten.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you as a player or TD?
Being accused of cheating. Never a good thing. Another opportunity to learn how NOT to act. We all make mistakes; it's what we do afterwards that defines us.
You are given five minutes to evacuate your house; the kids and pets are safe - which three items would you grab?
My box of jewels and photo albums, do I have super human strength too? If so, I'd carry out my curio cabinets and furniture, and got to save my computer too!
How do you pass the time on your drive to and from work?
Well, I work in the home, but when I drive I listen to KIRO talk radio or Oldies on KJR.
Name your three favorite movies:
Harry Potter series, Matrix series, Pirates of the Carribean series, All of Brad Pitt's movies.. I love a good comedy! Tropic Thunder with Tom Cruise was hilarous. I am also a hugh Jonny Depp fan.
Do you have any particular heroes?
Mother Teresa comes to mind. I think that everyone who makes the choice to help others is a hero. My son-in-law who has served 5 tours abroad is DEFINITELY my hero! All who serve our nation are heros.
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Mixed drinks, decadent chocolate, great food and sharing a naughty word or two with Bob!
When I grow up I want to be just like:
The kindest person possible. The best wife, mother, grandmother i can be and all round nice person and friend.
