Tell us a little bit about yourself - your hobbies; interests; passions in life.

I like photography, golf, fishing, cooking and, of course Eliters games.

What other interests or hobbies do you have (other than Eliters of course)?

I also like to travel; since we retired we have been to the USA, Mexico, Spain, The Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg, England, Scotland, The Czech Republic, Hungary, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Belgium, Monaco, Italy, France, Sloveia, Portugal, Tunisia, Panama and Costa Rica We also stopped in at a few Caribbean islands on a cruise.

One of the most memorable trips for us a weekong visit to Crete. Anke and I have been really blessed to have shared these experiences.

How did you learn about Eliters and when did you join?

I saw people playing and asked about it.

How did you pick your Eliters' Name - does it have any special significance?

I'm Jim and my wife is Anke, hence, jimnanke.

Tell us something unique or interesting about yourself that we are unlikely to know?

I had a military career in the US Air Force where I became a lab rat in the measurement business; a lot of electronics, nuclear instruments, and other stuff as well. I also spent several years on remote communications sites in Europe.

What makes Eliters special?

The general ambiance is relaxed and friendly yet is still competitive; Eliters is just a great way to meet interesting people and have fun.

What games do you play? Are there any other games you would like to give a try?

I play at Yahoo cribbage, Pogo cribbage, pool, hearts, dice, a little literati and am just starting with poker. I don't really know how to play any of the other games.

What is your absolute favorite game - and who taught you to play?

Crib is my favorite, my dad taught me, a long time ago...he had a lot of patience...lol

Do you currently hold any position in Eliters? Is there any particular position in which you might be interested?

No.

What is your proudest achievement in life?

We sent four kids through university and they all do well, have children of their own, and enjoy life very much.

What is the most important thing for you in tournament play?

Not having to wait for somebody to show up.

If you could offer one suggestion to improve Eliters; what would it be?

Put a place on the home page where one could offer suggestions.

If you had one wish; what would it be?

Being ex-military, of course I would wish for the end of all wars.

If you could use one sentence to describe the way you feel about Eliters to a prospective new player; what would it be?

Eliters has interesting games and lots of nice people so, jump on in, the water's fine.

What is the most memorable experience that you have had as a TD or a player; online or at a live event?

I did get a 29 hand in Yahoo crib, against Barry. And he almost won...lol

What is the funniest thing that has happened to you since joining Eliters?

Nothing to do with Eliters, but we were in Panama and on the last day found that an iguana, quite a big one, lived in the sewer system. He popped his head out of the toilet. I took a picture. Nobody in Panama was shocked; that seems to be quite common there, but we used another bathroom after that!

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you as a player or TD?

Well, I don't embarass easily.

If you could be one person for a day; who would you be and why?

I've never thought about that; I'm stuck with being me in any case.

You are given five minutes to evacuateyour house; the kids and pets are safe - which three items would you grab?

We have an "abandon ship" folder with the important papers in it, so we would take that, whatever money is around, and the largest key ring.

How do you pass the time on your drive to and from work?

I gave up working over 15 years ago.

Name your three favorite movies:

Casablanca, A Message To Garcia and The Silence Of The Lambs.

Do you have any particular heroes?

Martin Luther is one. (I am not a Lutheran). He had some swell ideas, like creating vocational education and he felt that everybody, even girls, should learn to read and write. And there was, of course, the religious aspect of his life.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?

I do very much enjoy the combination of chocolate and brandy.

When I grow up I want to be just like:

My dad. He was super.

Any last words for our readers?

Thank you all of the games we have had together and thank you for being such good sports
