Tell us a little about yourself. What led you to become a teacher?

Well I was a youth leader before that and a teacher aide. I just love working with children and helping them learn. There is nothing better than when a kid gets a concept, makes it all worth while. I have and will teach children from 5 up to around 13, but I like the 9 to 10 year olds best.

Do you have them all day? Or for certain subjects only?

All day and will need to teach all subjects. It is not until they get to high school (after 13) that the teacher only teaches one subject.

So how do you stay sane working with kids all day long and then hosting with "virtual kids" all night?

lol - It is where I get all my skills from. Sometimes I don't - I need a break, but its like treating everyone with repect and just taking time to yourself when you need it.

How did you learn about Eliters and when did you join?

I joined on 5/10/2002, and in fact it was my first time in a playroom on the net. I signed up with Yahoo and went to a game I sort of knew how to play called Hearts. The room I picked was owl tree, which is the home of Hearty, and I noticed Tourneys were running and I saw the spams. I watch them for about 2 hours and finally asked why play in a league when I can play in here anyway? And what’s the difference? I was told to try us out and see for yourself, so I did.

How long have you played games online? What games do you play?

Just over 3 years, I think. Okay, I play Gin in Yahoo, Pogo and Colony, and I play Backgammon Pogo. I also like to play Canasta once in a while. Chessy is fun, I just wish someone would take the League on to get it rocking. Hearts is where I started in Eliters, and I still visit once in a while, and Pool Yahoo and Pogo. I have just started playing Poker and also have learned Holdem. I have realized that it is just as much fun as the Poker I know. Also I play a little Spades, but only if it is Mirrors.

What positions have you held in Eliters and with which Leagues?

I started as a JrTD in Hearty about 2 weeks after I joined Eliters, then got promoted to TD and jumped to AGL.

After taking a 3-month break from Eliters, I returned as a Giny SrTD for about a year, during which time I also was in the first intake of SFTDs, which I still am today. After Giny, I moved to BGP (my big Pogo move), then to Ginp where I am now as AA.

What made you keep coming back to Eliters?

The fact that it is friendly and i4s more than just a game League. It is about meeting new people and making friends.

Also being able to log on anytime of the day or night, 24/7, and at least one League will have tourneys running, so even if you can’t play the game, you can cause trouble in the lobby. (not that I do that lol)

Have you learned new games since being apart of Eliters?

Lots, such as Canasta, Holdem and Backgammon and even Gin. But I think my skills have gotten better in all games.

What is your preferred play site? And why?

If you had asked me that question around a year ago, I would have said Yahoo all the way. After I started hosting in Pogo and soon after became a Club Pogo member, I would say Pogo. Pogo as a site is far more interesting with its layout and sounds and badges, but the best thing is no porn bots.

What is the most memorable experience that you have had as a TD and/or as a player?

Once after hosting for hours, day after day with no Tourneys going, a player who was always there said “thank you for being here even if none of the Tourneys have gone, just being able to talk with someone is good”. And I think that is what it is all about at the end of the day. It is what makes Eliters the best, being a family.

Where did you get your Eliters ID? Does it hold special meaning for you?

When I first started playing online, I just used my name and NZ for New Zealand on the end. Everyone knew my name right off, so I wanted to have a special name. I decided I wanted to be the best, so I wanted it to have "king" in it. I went through until I found a name ... "a_king_to_be" - and then it changed again so I could play and host in Pogo.

What, in your opinion, is the best thing about Eliters? What makes it different from other leagues?

The fact we have a great Team that love being here and don't want anything bad to happen to the League we have all worked so hard for.

Eliters was the first league I joined, so one day I joined another League because I was telling players to join Eliters when they said things like why should I? What's better about your League then any of the others out there? So I went to find out and found other Sites hard to find my way around (couldn’t even find how to get into a Tourney lol). So I think that is it. Issa and the team have looked at what they want and what players want and that it is simple and easy to use. Eliters is also right up there as a friendly League, nice when TDs want to be there - lol. And Eliters is a Tourney-based League, making a move away from stupid ladders. (Did I say that?)

If you could only use one sentence to describe the way you feel about Eliters, to a prospective new player, what would it be?

Eliters is a League that always wants to improve itself to make it easiest for our players to use the site. Players needs are always First.

What do you do for fun when you're not teaching, hosting, or playing (or causing trouble in the lobby!)?

I like making web sites (when I get the time that is), painting, and photograahy. As for causing trouble in the lobby, its the best when its a league you dont host in (wink, wink) to keep the TD on their toes (hehehe).

Have you always lived in New Zealand?

Yes all my life, never been out of New Zealand. It is such a great country.

So, when are you and Rachel (danglesnz) going to meet? Is NZ that big?

Yes, she is well over 400km away. New Zealand is long. But Rach and I will meet one day. And on a diffrent island.

Any last words for our readers?

We all are a family no matter which Eliters League we are in, we still are all ELITERS. Never be scared to try a new game, take a walk into a game you have?t tried. No matter if yo5re a player, JrTD, GL, HA, or at the Corporate Level, we are all part of the Eliters team, so lets all help build this League even higher. And by the way to all Gin players, gin only does?t suck lol.
