More about _andy_clark

How long have you played games online?

I have played for five or six years.

What is your preferred play site?

I play Yahoo Backgammon exclusively now. I tried other sites but found Yahoo to be reliable and pleasing to the eye.

How did you learn about Eliters and when did you join?

I don't remember how I found Eliters, I joined about 4-5 years ago.

When did you become a TD, and what made you decide to do so?

I never actually hosted a tournament. I enrolled to become a TD, but found that my work schedule (elementary special education teacher) and my duties at home prevented me from being able to establish a workable routine.

I enrolled because I wanted to provide something to the organization that gave me so much enjoyment.

What made you keep coming back to Eliters?

I initially liked the rating system; it seemed transparent and fair. I met many good players who were also polite. As I got better, I began to see that many of my opponents in Eliters were skillful backgammon players and that I could learn by playing alot, even if I lost more than I won. Also, from the beginning, I found the TD structure to be a nice protection from the crude behavior I often found while looking for ladder and individual games.

What games do you play?

Backgammon exclusively now, although I have tried Gin and Literati.

Have you learned any new games since joining Eliters?

What in your opinion is the best thing about Eliters?

Two things really, reliability and predictability. Tournaments occur regularly and are well managed by capable TDs. Outrageous behavior, or the occasional technical problem, is usually well handled and does not prevent enjoyable participation by the regular members.

What is your most memorable and/or funniest experience since joining this League?

Brimore the Elvin Beauty used to host three tournies at once; players were enouraged to join all three. Trying to keeup with three games at once against opponents who were trying to do the same was outrageously fun. Calamities were common, but all seemed to enjoy the frantic play.

Your most Embarrasing Moment?

While playing in one of these triple tournaments, I completely forgot about one game and had to be reminded by Crouching Kitten to continue playing. She made routine comments about this for some time afterward.

What makes Eliters different from any other League out there?

I have never played for other Leagues, but I suppose that the reasons for Eliters' success are that they manage tournaments well, get rid of obnoxious players, provide a fair ranking sytem, and offer tournaments from early morning to late at night (at least in my time zone).

If you had one wish what would it be?

I wish that when a no-hit tournament is staged, there would also be a regular blitz offered at the same time.

How would you describe Eliters to a prospective member?

Eliters is a fun, fair league with lots of tournaments and lots of good, polite players.

Any last words for our readers?

Please tell Lisa that she looks especially lovely today. Also give my thanks to Issa for his great ideas and for his hard work.
