Tell us a little bit about yourself...
I am divorced with two daughters, one 14 who lives with her Dad and an 18 year old daughter who recently moved out on her own. I am going through cutting-the-apron-string syndrome!
I came to Nevada shortly after my divorce in 1997 and went to work for the Nevada Attorney General in their criminal division. My work background is in the legal field.
I have lived all over the world but am a California girl at heart. I have been fortunate enough to see and learn many different things in my lifetime.
What do you like to do away from the computer?
You mean there is life outside of Eliters? Who knew! I like to do things with my kids, camp, outdoorsy things and bug my Mom who is my best friend. I love to travel and Florida is a favorite destination.
How long have you played games online?
About 5 years.
What is your preferred play site? And why?
I like Yahoo and Pogo. Pogo is where I go to escape and get a little peace and quiet! Yahoo is where I come to find my friends!
How did u learn about Eliters and when did you join?
I wandered into Pinoy Beg 2 a very long time ago, shortly after I was hurt at work. Pinochle was a way for me to rehab the memory issues I was (still am) having. One day I noticed everyone having fun and there was someone who didn’t spell very well (Darkwolf, lol). The night I noticed them and joined was a marathon night. That night yahoo was taking 5-10 minutes to play one card so marathon was cancelled. I came back the next day and haven’t left.
How did you pick your Eliters' name? Is this your one and only?
Wickd is a name I have on AOL and have had it since 1996. I have a variety of Wickd names and a slew of Yahoo names† most recent is DuchessofPita but shh I am keeping it a secret from Downy.
What made you keep coming back to Eliters?
The players were nice and made me feel comfortable playing. I kept getting stuck with Sanitationman_34 and he finally had to drag me to the side and teach me how to play doubledeck! After my lessons, I was hooked and now regularly kick his behind. Thank you Stinky.
When did you become a TD, and what made you decide to do so?
I saw the TDs working tirelessly providing us tournaments, and sometimes it was the same TD all day long and all week long. I decided if I had time to play I had time to help out doing something that was so much fun! There are great rewards in volunteering and I am very glad I applied.
What positions have you held in Eliters….and is there anything that you haven’t done that you would like to do in the future?
In Pinoy I have risen through the ranks to HA and have been here for awhile. I have been Clubs Director and currently am SFTD, Yahoo Leagues Director and VP of Leagues.
If you could be one person for a day, who would you be and why?
El?s wife. (no reason given though)
What games do you play? And What is your favorite game and why?
Pinochle, bowling, gin, pool, canasta and dominoes. I claim to play backgammon, hearts, spades and cribbage but I never remember the rules or how to do it!
Have you learned any new games since being a part of Eliters?
Gin was a new game for me as was canasta. I really enjoy both these games.
What in your opinion is the best thing about Eliters
For me I enjoy the camaraderie we have in Pinoy. We have some very funny people in the league and I have made some very good friends. I am blessed. I like to laugh and every day someone finds a new way to make me smile.
Pinoy has the best Live Parties!!!
What is the most memorable experience that you have had as a TD or a player, online and at a live event?
Well aside from pulling the wires on Yahoo regularly, I would have to say Corn. Don’t ask.
You are stranded on a deserted island, no internet, no phone, no TV, walking along the beach, you come across?
Elmo of course. I wouldn’t dream of being stranded without him.
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you since joining Eliters.
Again, the corn jokes. It’s been years since that happened and I think it has become an urban legend!
The most embarrassing thing, that you can talk about of course
That would again be the corn. And it was all Hershey’s fault.
How do you pass the time on your drive to and from work?
Considering my work is on my computer, I get up and make a cup of Chocolate Hazelnut cappuccino and turn this thing on!
Who is the one person that you can say has helped you the most here?
There are so many who have helped me in so many different ways. I would say first and foremost, Issa, because he keeps me sane and tha4s not an easy task. Lisaleasah - because I can thwap her when I am not sane. Gumshoe_Steve always knows the right things to say at the perfect moment. Drash, who is one of my dearest friends and my daily sounding board and without her I would be lost. And last and most important, all of my TDs who have made the journey in Pinoy possible and keep it the best lobby and league on the net and who have become very dear friends to me, and our players who keep me on my toes!
In your opinion, what makes Eliters different from other leagues?
The people make it different. For me it’s more about having fun than competition but we have some serious competition in here! I think people are drawn to where they feel comfortable and Eliters is the place. People know quality when they see and Eliters offers quality across the board – quality games – quality tournaments – quality people. What more can you ask for?
If you had one wish what would it be?
For everyone in Eliters to realize what a tremendous effort each and every person puts in to keep this site up, running and the best out there. Every effort of every TD, player and administrative person keeps our wheels greased and moving along. One of my beefs right now is how critical people are being and I think sometimes a simple Thank You would go a long way. Instead of finding something wrong, find something right!
If you could only use one sentence to describe the way you feel about Eliters, to a prospective new player, what would it be?
When you are lonely and want to play a game or find your friends, come visit us at Eliters because we never shut our lights off!
When I grow up I want to be just like:
Elmo - but the female version.
Any last words for our Readers?
Eliters has been a journey for me in a very difficult time in my life and if I had not found them, who knows where I would be spending my time. I am a very driven person and this has occupied my time well and given me something that I feel is very worthwhile.
I stop to think that without this journey I would have never met so many wonderful people and made so many new friends – you know who you are!
