More about dlovell3

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am a System Analyst for McDonalds Corp. I have 3 kids; twin boys 15 and a 7 year old.

What do you like to do away from the computer?

I bowl, play softball and spend a lot time with my boys.

How did you learn about Eliters and when did you join?

Lets see, I was over in Pogo playing some Dominoes, and someone in the Lobby mentioned something about Yahoo. I went over to Yahoo and found a Gin room, I think it was Easy Alley or Veteran Vortex, and started to play. Next thing I knew I had joined Elite. It was Elite then, and that was back in September 2001.

How did you pick your Eliters' Name? Is this your one and only?

This is my only name, as of now. When I joined Eliters I was not a good player (not saying that I got better), so I changed names a few times. I used the same variation -- dlovell1, dlovell2, and finally settled on dlovell3. The D is for don; Lovell is for my middle name; and 3 for my kids. My kids happen to have my middle name.

What is your preferred play site? And Why?

I like Yahoo and Pogo. Still trying to navigate in GameDesire, but I will get it.

What made you keep coming back to Eliters?

It was all around fun. I come in to the Gin room, and it was just so much fun.

How long have you played games online?

I have been playing online games now for well over 10 years.

What games do you play? And what is your favorite game?

I play gin, dominoes, and bowling. Dominoes is my favorite.

Have you learned any new games since being a part of Eliters?

I can play Canasta now. I even won a game or two, and I think I won a tourney!

When did you become a TD, and what made you decide to do so?

I think I became a TD in 2001. I had just changed my name (out of yeps again) and my wife in another life Chouettelady (Tricia) came to me and said "Bursie why do you keep changing your name". I told her because I suck (can we use that word?). She asked me to become a TD, I said ok what the heck.

What positions have you held in Eliters and are there anything that you haven't done that you would like to do in the future?

From JrTD to GL in Gin. Thatís my home and will always be my home, no matter what NONO (SOSO) says. SrTD to HA in DOP. I just made HA, so I would like to stick around doing this for a little bit more. I would love to keep going up the chain in Eliters. I will have to talk about that with Issa on one of our Lunch dates. I might have to fly him to Chicago next week. (This is a little joke I use while giving NONO a hard time over in Gin.) It's all fun and games no harm intended.

Who is the one person that you can say has helped you the most here?

You say one person. I have had many I have to give mad props to. Chou, she got me started in this business. LJ_lynn, I talked to her a lot while in Gin and even now that I am out. Beancounter is always there to hear me out when I need to really talk. Never will I forget Tori, rest in peace sweetie. I miss you dearly.

In your opinion, what makes Eliters different from other leagues?

Eliters is all about fun. They try to make it fun and easy for others.

What in your opinion is the best thing about Eliters?

There is always a game going on somewhere in Eliters. Thatís how I learned how to play Canasta, on one of those late nights when I had to dial in from home to work on a problem and could not get back to sleep. Eliters was there and I like that.

If you had one wish what would it be?

I want to be able to meet all of my friends and prospective friends of Eliters.

What is the most memorable experience that you have had as a TD or a player, online or at a live event

I was a TD and it was early in the morning, I think a Saturday, sitting at work. I was at a table in Gin trying to up my rating. I invited this one lady, and we started talking. She was new at the time, and she played a lot of crib. She stuck around in that room with me, and soon we became tag team partners and very good friends. Now this person will not leave me alone. She follows me wherever I go. She's none other then Beancounter, and we are still tag team partners to this day.

What is the funniest thing that has happened to you since joining Eliters?

I had finally gotten a red rating in gin, and I think I kept it for like a week. If I remember correctly, Lynn came in and said I lost my red socks. It took a while for me to understand what she was talking about, but I finally realize what she meant. Thatís a ongoing joke. If I remember correctly, I think Lynn has my red sock still in the wash. LOL

If you could be one person for a day, who would you be and why?

I would like to be the President. I want to see what kind of stuff comes across this person's desk, or what happens in his day. I think I could make a difference. Now I donít know if it would be good or bad, but it will be different. LOL All jokes aside, I would like to see if I could fix some of the stuff that is going on.

You are stranded on a deserted island, no internet, no phone, no TV, walking along the beach, you come across...

Someone who was a part of Eliters, and they tell me of some more improvements that Issa and the gang have incorporated. Or some food. You take your pick. LOL

How do you pass the time on your drive to and from work?

I listen to my XM Radio. I love this thing -- music, talk and sports.

When I grow up I want to be just like....

...I was when I was a kid. I donít want to grow up anymore; too much responsibilities. Actually, I would love to be like my father, in all of his trials and tribulations, because he took care of his family. He did what needed to be done. I love him for that, and I truly miss him.

Any last words for our readers?

I have my ups and downs in Eliters. It's just like life to me. Eliters is the best, and yes I have tried the others. I have found friends here, and I plan on being here for a very long time. I donít know if people that are not a part of Eliters are going to see this, so for the people that are a part of Eliters... Let's keep Eliters rocking and let's support each other to keep Eliters on top.
