More about JTRuss

Introduction to the Interview

Any one who knows JT knows she's reserved when it comes to talking about herself. Because of this, we enlisted the help of her online friend Karie (xvxwickdxvx) to offer more information to some of the interview questions.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am married with 2 teenage daughters (both are for sale, just let me know how much you will charge me to take them). Currently I'm a volunteer for the Red Cross, and I hope to join their mobility team someday and eventually the international mobility team.

Karie: She's an RN who works for an eye surgeon and she uses her talents as a nurse when she travels to Turkey in an outreach program. Several years ago after she had joined the Pinoy team as a TD, she traveled to Turkey and was IMing us from a local coffee shop. They were being followed by the Turkish police, and she had us all on pins and needles while she was away.

What do you like to do away from the computer?

Play teacher, taxi, and maid for my kids - oh wait, that's not what I like to do - that's what I do - What I like to do is travel!! - I have been to Oregon, Florida, and Philly for live ELITER events, and I have made a trip to Germany and 3 trips to Turkey in the past few years.

Karie: Last year's trip to Turkey included assisting area hospitals with planning and carrying out their plans for terrorism attacks and how to care for multiple patients and teaching them how to handle a crisis situation.

How did you learn about Eliters and when did you join?

I learned about ELITERS when I was trying to learn to play double deck Pinochle. I had played single deck for many years. I had help from 3 wonderful people and they invited me to join the league - the rest is history.

How did you pick your Eliters' Name? Is this your one and only?

This was my name in Yahoo for several years prior to joining ELITERS.

Ok... new question... How did you pick your Yahoo Name?

"JT" is my name. "Russ" is from the first four letters of my last name.

Karie: I'll never give up the name thing. Keep trying Lisa, lol.

What is your preferred play site? and Why?

I like both Yahoo and Pogo. I admit, I'm a bit of a badge addict in pogo, but I perfer ELITER games in yahoo.

Karie: Ahh JT is the queen of badges in Pogo and the rest of us aspire to have her badge books. She's also great at getting our badges when we don't like the game that week. LOL

What made you keep coming back to Eliters?

The friendships.

How long have you played games online?

Since I got my first computer - in 1993.

What games do you play? And what is your favorite game and why?

I play all games - the only one I don't know is bridge - my favorite game is the one I'm playing at the time.

Have you learned any new games since being a part of Eliters?

Yes - Euchre.

What positions have you held in Eliters and is there anything that you haven't done that you would like to do in the future?

I've been a TD, SrTD, AGL, GL, AA, HTD, SFTD, PSTD, and now HA. I've hosted primarily in Pinoy, Bowlp, Canay, Pooly, and Doy, but have served all leagues as an SFTD.

What is next for you? I hear Issa is looking for a successor.

Who knows, I just take things as they come.

Karie: JT is currently plotting the next great practical joke for the Oregon party in April. (oops, I think Karie let the cat out of the bag! Beware TeaPartiers!)

Who is the one person that you can say has helped you the most here?

Hmmmm there have been several people that have helped me along the way - from different perspectives. Karie has been the greatest influence as a TD, but there have been many players that have influenced me as a player. Drsally, usplus5makes7, silverladyaz, elmwoodplebis - to name a few.

What in your opinion is the best thing about Eliters?

Live Get togethers!!!!!! (and practical jokes, according to Karie)

If you had one wish what would it be?

I wish money grew on trees, after all, my kids think it does!!!

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you since joining Eliters.

No ammo for you Lisa!!!!

If you could only use one sentence to describe the way you feel about Eliters, to a prospective new player, what would it be?

It's my second family!!

What is the most memorable experience that you have had as a TD or a player, online or at a live event.

I don't think we want to go there!!! (Karie said something about Marshmallow shooters?)

Oh yes we do! Fess up!

All the trouble Karie and I seem to end up in at EVERY Eliters live event!!!!! (innocently, I might add)

If you could be one person for a day, who would you be and why?

I don't know who I would want to be, but I certainly wouldn't want to be Lisa - she is always getting THWAPPED, I would have such a headache!!!!

How do you pass the time on your drive to and from work?

Listen to music.

Ok... I'll bite... What music?

All different kinds - classical - country - Christian - blues - jazz - the oldies, Turkish music and Spanish music.

What is your favorite book/author?

I didn't realize we had to know how to read to do this job.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?

Thwapping Lisa and harassing her (but of course I'm always innocent, after all, I'm an angel) :)

(what about the online shopping rumors I've heard about?)

When I grow up I want to be just like:

Lisa (hahaha)

In your opinion, what makes Eliters different from other leagues?

The friendliness - I have watched the bickering in other leagues - and yes, we do have that in ELITERS also, but seems as if it is less, and well defused by TDs. (most of the time)

Any last words for our readers?

Eliters ROCK!!!
