Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am really a pretty reserved person and don't find it very easy to talk about myself. I am a homebody at heart, very content with a book and a cup of tea or quilting and watching a movie.
What do you like to do away from the computer?
Spend time with family, especially the grandchildren; quilt, read, gardening, birding, walking, listen to music, watch movies, puzzles
How did you learn about Eliters and when did you join?
I was playing Literati and my opponent said to me after 3 or 4 games, hey you might want to check out this league....so I said " oh yeah ?" Then I went and watched in the lobby, saw the interaction the people had with each other. They were friendly and treated each other with much more respect then the regular non-league games. It's been almost 4 years.
How did you pick your Eliters' Name? Is this your one and only?
I started with a different name and ran out of YEPs, lol familiar plight for many. My current name is the only other one I have used in Eliters. Obviously when I chose it, I had been playing for a while and I wasn't really a novice at the game, but I liked it and the name novice was already gone, so I decided to misspell it and go with a similar sounding word, hence noveece.
What is your preferred play site? and Why?
I'm only familiar with Yahoo and Game Desire. I think I am like many people, what you try first or are the most comfortable with is your chosen site. I prefer Yahoo even with all its quirks.
What made you keep coming back to Eliters?
I never left !!!
How long have you played games online?
I started playing games online with my kids to see what they were doing, so that would be about ten years now
What games do you play? And what is your favorite game and why?
Literati, Spades, Hearts, Cribbage, Dominoes, Canasta...but my favorite by far is Literati. Literati is a game that you can always continue to learn, there are more variables in it then there are in card games. The tiles are not the same every game, the formats change, the table timers change, it is an ongoing challenge to improve.
Have you learned any new games since being a part of Eliters?
Yes, Spades. Someone needed a partner for an Olympics event and asked me if I would pair with them. I laughed and said you have got to be kidding, I don't know how to play. They said they could teach me enough to get by. Get by is a good description of my skill.
What positions have you held in Eliters and is there anything that you haven't done that you would like to do in the future?
AGL, GL, AA, TGL and HA, pondering if there is anything else, can I get back to you on that one ?
Who is the one person that you can say has helped you the most here?
If I pick just one someone is going to be hurt, but I would have to say Cat.
In your opinion, what makes Eliters different from other leagues?
It's focus on family and friendliness, the respect with which people are treated.
What in your opinion is the best thing about Eliters?
If you had one wish what would it be?
That people would be more accepting and less judgmental, we don't all come from the same backgrounds or places and we shouldn't expect others to be carbon copies of ourselves
If you could only use one sentence to describe the way you feel about Eliters, to a prospective new player, what would it be?
If you are looking for a place to enjoy your favorite games, Eliters will have what you are looking for and players who will become close friends, just like those you would have into your home sitting and playing games right at your table.
What is the most memorable experience that you have had as a TD or a player, online or at a live event.
Just after I became a TD, I met another TD who hosted in Lity. Just by sheer happenstance we found out I was going to be about a 15-20 minute drive from her home and she loaded up her kids in the car and came to meet me. We talked for HOURS !
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you since joining Eliters.
Losing my "voice" in Yahoo. I had no idea about the how many lines of continuous text it would take to be muted by Yahoo. I was hosting and players were asking me questions. I was answering, but they weren't getting it which I didn't know. A few were getting downright perturbed at me cause they thought I was ignoring them. All I had done was take a song we liked to sing the lyrics to for a specific player and put them in short keys so I could "sing" for that person. Boy was I ever off key with that one ! I ended up having to make another id to host tourneys for a couple of days until Yahoo gave me back my voice.
The most embarrassing thing, that you can talk about of course.
Hm, well it took some serious effort to come up with just one but in the midst of hosting and telling players thank you for joining and announcing pairings and winners, etc, I managed to make a wonderfully embarrassing typo. Something along the lines of "Way to go ( whomever it was) and thank you for laying ( to another player)"......that definitely got some reaction from both people involved and some very ribald comments which I know better than to put here.
If you could be one person for a day, who would you be and why?
When I was a child I would have been able to come up with lot's of people, now I cannot think of a single person who I would want to be, I am too busy learning how to be myself.
You are stranded on a deserted island, no Internet, no phone, no TV, walking along the beach, you come across...
It would have to be a box of books or fabric and thread
How do you pass the time on your drive to and from work?
Listening to music and singing along since no one is there to hear me
What is your favorite book/author?
Ask an avid reader for a favorite ...meanie...... "Lord of the Rings" -Tolkien or "Gulliver's Travels" - Jonathan Swift or ......
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Hoarding fabric for future quilts
When I grow up I want to be just like:
My grandmother, she died when I was only a few months old, but all the stories I have been told about her convince me she was an incredible woman and one to be greatly admired.
Any last words for our readers?
Come see us in Lity, our wonderful team of TDs would be happy to help you learn the basics of the game if you aren't already familiar with them. And for those who think they can't spell, it's pretty simple really, if it isn't a word, Yahoo won't accept
