Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I live on a small island off the northeast coast of
Newfoundland with my husband and four kids. I work in
the local Shrimp plant seasonally. I am also
chairperson for our annual Seaside Festival which is
held the first week in August. I also try to do
volunteer work in the community when I have the
chance.
What do you like to do away from the computer?
When I'm not on the computer I try to spend as much
time as I can with my kids. I also read quite a lot.
I'm even trying to hook a dang rug now lol.
How did you learn about Eliters and when did you join?
I learned about Eliters in 2001 when I went into adv 7
to play crib one day. I was playing with this person
and she told me all about it. I can't remember who that
person is but anyway I checked out the site and the
rest is history.
How did you pick your Eliter's name? Is this your one and only?
Newfiecribber is my first Eliters name. I did change
it once to dona2167 but it just didn't feel right,
so I switched it back. Tigger kept calling me a meanie
and demanding newfie back lol.
What is your preferred playsite and why?
I like yahoo with all its perks.
What made you keep coming back to Eliters?
I keep coming back to Eliters because of the people.
I've made so many new friends through Eliters. It's
really quite amazing when you think about it.
How long have you played games online?
I started playing games online in 2001 on a very
slowwwwww comp lol think it had 24 MB lol. And I still
have that hard drive just in case something
happens to this one.
What games do you play? And what is your favorite game and why?
I started playing crib at first, then I tried euchre,
and then got really brave and figured out how to play
gin - at least most of the time I think I can.
It's a toss up between euchre and crib for me but I play
both as much as I can.
Have you learned any new games since being a part of Eliters?
I've learned how to play doms. Ocean_girltu, rick_usmc_ret, and
criminally_insaneus used to play that often after hosting at
night.
What positions have you held in Eliters and is there anything that you haven't done that
I was GL in criby for a couple of years and now I'm AGL
in euchy. The future is something I'm not thinking of.
Right now I'm just enjoying all that Eliters has to
offer.
Who is the one person that you can say has helped you the most here.
Omg I cant pinpoint any particular person who helped
me the most because there are several. I remember when
I first considered hosting. There was purc and jackie,
crim and kris just to name a few. All of which gave me
so much support. There are others who helped in all
kinds of ways besides that.
In your opinion, what makes Eliters different from other leagues?
I've never been a member of any other league and I'm
not gonna be! Like the song says there's nothing
better once you've had the best!
What in your opinion is the best thing about Eliters?
The best thing about Eliters everything lol. What's not
to love when you go into a lobby and all these people
see ya and it's Hiiiiiiiiiiiii newfieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
lol. Makes ya feel good.
If you had one wish what would it be?
LOL besides winning the lottery I wish I had another
job. Anyone looking for a good cook?
If you could only use one sentence to describe the way you feel about Eliters, to a prospective new player, what would it be?
I would tell a new prospective player that there
isn't any other site on the internet that's gonna offer what
he or she can experience when they join Eliters.
What is the most memorable experience that you have had as a TD or a player, online or at a live event?
The most memorable time I remember I was hosting in
criby and I scheduled over 110 and got 85 to fly. At
the end of the week my fingers were so cramped from
typing I had to stay away from the comp for a day til
they eased up. And my husband was there saying what
the heck have you done woman. Lol he doesn't understand
Eliters - and I'm not sharing my comp with him lmao.
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you since joining Eliters?
Lol that one would be the time I was in crib, not sure
if I was hosting but this guy comes in and starts hitting on me. Then purc asked me if I my new false teeth had arrived in the mail yet.
When I said not yet she said I could share hers. The guy couldn't leave fast enough and we still laugh about it. Dentures anyone?
What is the most embarrassing thing, (that you can talk about of course).
I was hosting one day after I had returned from the ER
room following a relapse with my back. And the doc
gave me a shot for pain. There I was hosting - and I
fall asleep right in the middle of it!
If you could be one person for a day, who would you be and why?
I would love to be the Prime Minister of Canada and
the day I'd pick would be budget day lol. Dang I'd
give away a lot of money to a lot of deserving people!
You are stranded on a deserted island, no internet, no phone, no TV, walking along the beach, you come across...
I come across an ancient tribe of people who are
looking for a queen to lavish all their attention and
love on. Waited on hand and foot now that's some
dream.
How do you pass the time on your drive to and from work?
I listen to the radio and keep my eyes peeled for dang
caribou. The island is completely overrun with them
lately.
What is your favorite book/author?
My favorite author is John Saul.
What's your guiltiest pleasure?
Turtles ice cream. I do it once a year lol just sit
down with the whole tub and won't share and eat it
all lol. There must be a million calories in the dang
tub.
When I grow up I want to be just like:
... my mother in law.
And no that is not a typo. She was one of the nicest
people I have ever known. No nonsense, said what was
on her mind and helped you out any way she could
Any last words for our readers?
In the seven years I've been a member of Eliters I
have been fortunate to meet alot of great people and
it has changed my life in lots of different ways. All
for the good. You all rock!!!!!!!!!!
