Alby Santiago Jr.
FALMOUTH — Albert "Alby" Santiago Jr., 46, of Falmouth, died on July 9, 2008, after a long battle with cancer.
He was the son of Albert and Jeanne (Auger) Santiago of East Falmouth. He was the grandson of the late Lucy (Teixeira) Santiago of Falmouth, and Roland and Gabrielle (Despelteau) Auger of Putnam, Conn. He is survived by a brother, James Santiago, of Falmouth; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean (Santiago) and Paul Perra, of Forestdale; a sister, Patricia Santiago, of Falmouth; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Alby dreamed of being a "Rock Star". Admiring his father, he was singing at three and performing at 10 with his father. At 13, he began writing poetry and song lyrics, by 21 he wrote music and played guitar. He was a gifted artist who performed in, "On the Prowl", "The Greg Powers Band", "The Emerald City Band", "Thunderstruck", "Cruise Control", and "Cross Country"; he toured as the bassist for "Draw the Line", the "Aerosmith" tribute band. He recorded the song "Inside of My Love" on "The Digital Mystery Tour" CD. Alby was famous for his humor and on stage impersonations.
Alby was a huge Bruins fan, he loved "Kiss", the Pats and Red Sox, cooking, concerts, movies, jokes and hosting games on "POGO". He had a big heart, and a joy about him that everyone loved; he was compassionate and caring. Alby's family, his band brothers, and friends from all over will miss his laughter.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chapman Cole & Gleason, 475 Main St., Falmouth.
A memorial Mass will be said on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 511 Main St., Falmouth, MA. A memorial concert in honor of Alby will be held in August. Visit www.rock4alby.com for more information.
