Tribute from Newsletter
On October 10, 2005, our fellow Eliter and friend to many, Humpco99 passed away. As word got around the leagues about his passing, I was touched about the way fellow players and opponents viewed him.
This news comes as a shock but also a sobering soothing feeling. I knew Hump since I joined Spady in 2002. I enjoyed playing with him and always admired his conversation and his skill at the game. The Club postings were all touching and pieces of each Eliter's memories that all knew John. From everyone here in our big Eliters Family, Corporate, Staff and Players, our thoughts go to his family at this time of sorrow. May he be in a better place, and I would like to leave you with these two postings, that although I did not know Humpco at all, I just learned a bit about him by reading all these posts.
When I lost a friend of mine recently, I found this quote from the movie Shawshank Redemption.
"I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged, their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. Still the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they are gone. I guess I just miss my friend."
Good bye our Friend. Sail high with open wings.

His competitiveness, fair play, and quiet demeanor was first and foremost.
I am in such shock. Someone else wrote that Heaven has taken in another angel in Humpco (John). I just wanted to definitely agree with that. John was the kindest, sweetest, most caring soul. He was a loyal and true friend to many of us, and lifted our spirits when we needed it most. He stood by his friends, always willing to give from his warm, beautiful heart. Indeed, he is with God now, spreading his wings like no other Angel. We will miss you, Humpy. So very very much. Thank you for all of you that you shared with me. I will never forget.
His Olympic medal reign, which has ended at 16 now, will take a while for anyone to surpass. As Mikey444u posted, Humpco99 was a great Olympic competitor, and although I personally didn't know him well, I think it would be appropriate, before the start of next months 1st Olympic tourney, to have a minutes lobby silence in his honour.
I want to reply to what Mary said about hump not being a talker on the computer he told me one time he couldnt type well enough to carry on a conversation on the computer like I could but he was a much better card player then me and then he giggled. Well yes dear hump you were a much better player then me and I will miss u terribly I am just so sorry we never got to meet and i get to smack you for telling me I couldnt play cards :)
You will always be remembered in my heart!!!!
ps: yes he is reading all these wonderful post about him and smiling big Thank you Elite for making him smile :). Heaven has another angel watching over all of us...
To the family of our dear Humpco...
May God give you strength at this time of loss. Know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of all that have been touched by Humpco.
And to all my Eliter friends...I want to take this opportunity to let you all know you are very special in your own, unique ways. Thank you all for your friendship, caring, and love you freely give and share to others. You all make this world kinder, gentler place.
I love you all!
