2 YEPs Worth
There is a road I take to work, and every time I pass a certain spot I make a point of saying her name - Amanda Carter. I never knew her. All I know is that one rainy November day she dropped off some friends and was on her way home to pick up her mom for a movie date, when she took a turn too sharply and landed up in the Los Cerritos Channel. FirefighterS and several bystanders finally managed to pull her out of her Jeep but it was too late. Amanda Carter was one of those kids with everything to live for - 16, kind, smart, blonde, beautiful, popular - the kind of kid we all would love to have been.
To this day, someone leaves flowers at the spot every single week.
And every time I pass there, I remember how precious life is and how fleeting it is.
Sometimes we bitch and moan like a bunch of babies about what truly is of trivial importnace in the overall scheme of things. We only realize how precious our relationships are when they are lost or cut short - so today I am asking all of you to remember our community of players and really commited TDs who make all of this possible.
You will never remember the score tomorrow but you will remember the laughter and kindnesses we share. So let us each try to make it a little better for each other whenever you can.
Because you CAN!
