Update on the miracle baby (cutiepie19ca2002's nephew)
Dylan turned 3 in October, he is happy full of life like no child I know, as he cannot express himself with his arms or legs his facial expressions are 10 times what ours are and they are so precious. Dylan is so determined and with the wonderful support of his mother and father they never believed in the word *no* *never*...etc
We spent a lot of time this past summer in the pool with him and it paid off huge, his physio team have said since day one Dylan would never walk, they would not put him through any surgery as its major surgery to break hips legs feet ankles just everything all the way down and piece him back together, it would be to painful and for no reason they said. When she saw Dylan in Oct she immediately changed her mind and made the call for him to have the surgery, she was so blown away by his desire and determination to walk they have made him a special walker from sick kids, although his right leg has little to no tissue therefore muscle cannot build there is some, his left leg is much stronger and he will depend on it much more. When in the pool he moves his legs with the motion to walk so the physio lady said he has it in his mind and has the determination. So surgery will be approx (at this point) around next Oct
They did a full body scan for this and it came back good to go, unfortunately when they did the MRI they found a cyst in his brain just above his speech. It is the size of a pea and they will check him again in 6mths to see if it remains the same or grows. Most people with cyst's apparently have them very close to the skin, his is deep down inside the brain therefore he could require dangerous surgery. (Prayers)...
So lots still going on...He is extremely smart and pure joy to have around. We modify everything we possibly can to make him feel like a little boy should.
So much for the baby who was not supposed to survive, I guess they forgot to tell him.
