An amazing twelve years.
I was a child when I joined EliteLeague. Arrogant, Boastful, Silly, Immature. Entirely too confident for my own good. Attention-Starved. A liar.
Now my skin is a little wrinkled, my hair a bit grayer, I can't seem to drink or eat dairy products anymore. Instead of complaining about an essay I have to write, I'm not concerned about hitting sale goals, labor numbers, and trends. I find myself trying to find time to sit down and close my eyes, rather than to find time to play Spades with my friends.
But for twelve years, off and on, off and on, off and on, we were together. We laughed, we bickered, we celebrated, we fought, we cried, we existed, we lived. Some of it was magic, some of it was tragic, but it was an amazing twelve years.
If you asked me if I would have ever thought in April 2002 that I would be sitting here in my office today reading about Yahoo shutting down games, and Silver memberships not being a lifetime membership, and losing money hand over fist and only 113 active premium members in 2013...I would have told you that was madness.
I will never forget those early days and the sense of love and family and friends that we all were and shared.
To this day, I have never shook the hand of Bear_Music, never hugged Sunny, never arm wrestled Homie....but I love them. They were a part of my life that I will never, ever, forget.
I'll never forget the stress of partnering with Miller..... the fear of screwing up and the IMs that would follow. I'll never forget winning my first TOC. Lynxie was so excited.
My first tournament hosted.
My first write up...
I'll never forget any of you.
“To part is the lot of all mankind. The world is a scene of constant leave-taking, and the hands that grasp in cordial greeting today, are doomed ere long to unite for the the last time, when the quivering lips pronounce the word - 'Farewell” .
