Purplehaze285 Tribute

Time and time again, upon talking to fellow Eliters the one common reason that everyone loves Eliters is the friendship and the spirit of family throughout. Each league has their own way of interacting, and friendships and such and combined is what makes this league truly spectacular.

Upon looking and perusing the clubs for news and information for this newsletter, I came across the many posts concerning Purplehaze285 a member of pinoy. I was touched by the outpouring of love and kindness that her fellow members have when it concerned Purple, a regular and favorite in pinoy.

A few months back, Purple (Jackie) had a sore collarbone, and went to the Doctors to get it looked at and at that time it was said that she had dislocated it. She was to have surgery, but upon closer examination, it was found that she had cancer of the bone.

At the beginning of May, Catjunkie, a dear friend of Purple's posted this message in the clubs:

    Hi Eliters

I just wanted everyone to know that the severity of Purp's cancer is very severe. I spoke with her daughter today and she is on a day to day situation with the remaining time here.

This may come as a surprise to some of you but Purp has terminal bone cancer and it is spreading quite rapidly.

Please do not send "Get Well" cards as we know she is not getting well.

Her daughter let me know Purp is very well medicated to help ease the pain. She has started getting tumors on her head. She has had a bone replacement in one of her arms and thus far that is the only surgery she will be having.

I will keep you all updated as much as possible as I try and call the family at least every other day.

On May 16th, 2005, at 20:45, Purple, 56 years of age, slipped away with her children by her side.
    Hi Eliters,

What can I say, where can I begin. Our dear Purple has passed away. She left this earth on Monday May 16, 2005 at 8:45PM. She had all her daughters and sons with her as they knew the time was coming to an end.

We will all remember, cherish and adore the times we all have had with Purple. She was a bright sunshine every day and a bright star every night. She was so precious to so many of us.

I did get the opportunity to talk with Purple on the phone monday and she said she really missed everyone of us. I did tell her as many names as I could remember that you all said your hi's, loves and misses.

Our dear friend Purple is now with God above and our other dear friend Tess. Together they can teach other angels how to play pino and show them how close we all are here in Eliters Pino.

If anyone is interested, in lieu of flowers you can make a donation to the Ameican Cancer Society in Purple's name (Jackie Alexander).

In closing, I will say Purple I know you are now watching over each of us and laughing cause you know how silly we all can be. I love you girl and till we meet again you will always remain in my heart.

There are too many posts to list, but as an Eliter and a player, I for one, not knowing her the way that some did, feels like I have missed out on something special. Knowing someone that was as well loved as Purplehaze285, I for one know that she will be missed by many.
