Getting into Yahoo from Eliters Tourney Links
Over the past few months there have been several of our members having problems getting into our lobbys to join us in our tourneys.
We have some information that may assist you in understanding why and also how to get in each time. If you know a fellow Eliter experiencing these problems, please pass along this information.
The problem is typically a JAVA issue. No, we don't mean the coffee you drink. With the older versions of JAVA, when you clicked on the tourney room link, it would either take you directly to the room or to the Yahoo Sign in. Once you signed in, you would usually have no problem getting in from then on because your cookies would be kept in your files.
As JAVA has upgraded or changed, you now have to sign in each time you want to enter the Yahoo Games. The cookies no longer stay and work.
Here are some simple steps to follow:
- Go to one of the main Yahoo pages, such as games, mail, My Yahoo, or one of the other links that requires you to enter your username and password.
- Log in to the Yahoo page (if you are already logged in, logout and login again)
- Go back to the tourney page, and click the link for the tourney room. Or, you can go to the backdoor of your choice at this point. You should be able to enter the Yahoo game room.
Once you enter the game room, make sure you are using “Small Windows.” To do this, from the lower left corner of the room, select “Options” and check “Small Windows”. This will lessen the chances of you getting booted off the tables.
Some of the games (such as Pool and Dominoes) require the pop-up blocker to be turned off before you can create or join a table. Press the "Control (Ctrl) key as you are loading the table to temporarily turn off your blocker.
