Eliters Time Change - Daylight Savings Time - Sunday, March 11

On Sunday, March 11, Daylight Saving Time (DST) starts in the US for 2007. This is three-weeks earlier than normal thanks to The Energy Policy Act of 2005, which mandates that DST will start on the second Sunday in March and end on the first Sunday in November. This goes into effect for the first time in 2007.

Since Eliters time is based on the US Eastern time zone, at 02:00 Eliters time, the clocks will move forward to 03:00.

What does this mean to you?

  • If you are not in the same time zone as Eliters time, you'll want to change any clock reminder (or sticky notes) you have that translates Eliters time to your time. (moving forward an hour)
  • If you have a favorite event in an Eliters league on Sunday (Yahoo Olympics or Eliters Marathon/MDC), you'll want to set a reminder so you don't forget the time change and miss the event.
  • Just for TDs -- If you are a TD hosting during the time change, you'll want to skip prescheduling the 2:00 - 2:45 block of tourneys so when the time changes, you won't have duplicate tourneys to confuse the players.

Depending on the age of your computer or maintenance contracts you have with your computer support folks, your computer clock might or might not automatically change for you, as there are Windows patches available to support the advanced time change. If you have problems logging into Eliters Sunday morning - the first thing you should check is that your date and time is set correctly for your computer. That causes the login problems the majority of the time.

Who is bringing the donuts and coffee for our early morning games?
