2 YEPs worth
We all talk about our Eliters family and like those with whom we are related to by blood, you only truly appreciate what this means when you are away from them.
I will be spending most of February in South Africa - doing a little travelling; a few days at a wonderful, serene spa called Mount Grace in the Magaliesburg Mountains, but most of it just hanging around, visiting my favorite aunt and uncle knowing this is probably the last time that I will see them alive. They are in their late 80s and my uncle only recently retired from the masters tennis league. These two have always been an inspiration to me - the intellectual, dour uncle and the aunt whose laughter identified her long before you could see her. My sister and I are very close, not so much my brother. So it will be a fun time reconnecting with my cousins and enjoying the sights and tastes that I remember so well. And of course... living in fear of crime which sadly mars the country which has seen so much progress over the last few decades.
I will also be spending a great deal of time missing and worrying about my Eliters family - and hassling with intermittent dial up connections, power outages...
The wonderful thing about families... despite the occasional squabbles and irritations, they truly are part of our lives - and I know I can count on all of you to still be the same when I get back and most of all, that I can count on my fellow admins and TDs to take care of business just as capably as always in my absence.
Happy Valentines Day, happy February - be safe, be happy and share your happiness with others.
