2 YEPs worth
Sometimes you have to wonder about us. We bicker and bitch like a bunch of cranky six year olds. We argue ad nauseum about the most stupid stuff.
And yet...we stick together and act like family.
Case in point - the Criby marathon in May. Nothing spectacular about it, just another marathon. But yet on that day one of our HTDs - Neogiant22 had lost his mom. It was not unexpected but like the passing of anyone we love, that day will always be a painful memory for him.
Now Neo is an HTD and doesn't host a great deal any more. His time has been taken up with flying back and forth to Boston to take care of his mom on top of a demanding work schedule. He has more than paid his dues as an AA and TD. But on that Friday night he decided to host (by the way, if you know Neo you will know that he has no clue where the clubs are much less the newsletter so I am safe to post anything I like!). He didn't want to think, he wanted to be with friends and so he hosted. Started around 2000 and went on until 0200. Even hosted pards which he detests.
And the players came out in support of him. Some knew what had happened most did not. Players who had been working long shifts that day stayed and played, players who would never know Neo but had also been touched by the loss of a parent and players who were just good friends.
Those are the nights I choose to remember. When we all stood together for friendship, for family, for Eliters.
You made me proud.
