One of the best thing about being part of our Eliters family is getting to know people with different backgrounds, life experiences and interests.
One of the most fun things for me recently was getting an email alert from cammiexx in Australia about the Decorah (yup that is in Iowa) eagles. A pair of bald eagles were hatching three eggs in their nest on the Decorah Fish Hatchery (operated by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources). Now even if you are not into raptors, I have to tell you this is absolutely amazing. At one point some 120,000 people were watching for the first egg to watch (and those included Cammie in Australia, myself in California!). Now cammie had been alerted to this streaming video by spazann and another Eliter. Cammie had all her students watching and I told everyone I know too.
Which just goes to prove, we may be great distances apart from each other but we also have the great ability to overcome and bypass these boundaries to join in a common interest.
Oh yeah, thats what Eliters is all about!
p.s. So far two eggs have hatched, another is due in a few days. Bald eagles rock!
